Fantastic place. Free onsen for private use for 30 mins without reservation. Wonderful view of the river from window. The place actually looks much better than their photo in website. Walking distance to temples. Walk to city centre where the train station is will be bit far. Their breakfast is simple, serving bread, orange juice, coffee or tea (this is... More

Spent one night here and enjoyed proximity to the Shrines. Room was clean and simple. The onsen was quite nice. Slate tiled, looked out onto the river below. It is a unisex bath, so you had to wait until it was available and then you go in with your group. Just two complaints about this inn: breakfast was overpriced for... More

Every time we go to Nikko, we are staying at this ryokan. Although it's quite far away from the station (you should take the bus or even better a taxi, since also with the bus you will have to walk 10 to 15 minutes to reach the ryokan, depending on how heavy your luggage is ;) ), but it is... This lovely little hotel is perfectly located in Nikko. It is on the river and off the main roads, so very quiet. Walking to the main Nikko sites takes about 20 mins. There is also a nice walking track along the river. Car parking was available just outside. We had a traditional Japanese room which was an ok size on... More

I was living in Japan with either other Americans for ten weeks while we worked on another city. We traveled every weekend. We all stayed one night in three rooms. This was our first experience of traditional japanese rooms and they did not let us down.Futons were comfortable. It was somewhat difficult to find, but we eventually made it. We... More

We spent 4 nights in this wonderfull place in a classic japanese room. First : reserve throught the website. Second : when you'll arrive in Nikko take a taxi (it will cost 1000 yens max and will spare you a long useless walk). Third : pay in yens, it will cost about 30/50 euros less due to the money conversion.... More

A modern-ish ryokan-style inn set right on the bank of a pretty rushing river. Very close by is the wonderful Ganmangafuchi abyss and the incredibly atmospheric rows of Jizo statues. Our Japanese style room was sparsely furnished with futons, floor chairs, low table, heater, AC, phone, TV and little else. We had no issues with noise in our upstairs room.... More

We stayed three nights in a Japanese-style family room. The room was fine, if a bit basic, with plenty of space for our one-year-old to crawl around and explore. Excellent location next to the river (the calming sound of which was all we could hear at night), a short walk from the town. All the major sights can be reached... More

This is a wonderful family run B&B close to all attractions. The bedrooms are lovely and spacious. Sleeping on futons was cool. The rooms have heaters and A/C. Bathroom is fine with all you need. Lovely common areas, very comfortable and a nice bath. You can also avail of the cost effective and simple breakfast too. I would definitely recommend... More

It was a place I stayed in for a couple of nights in Nikko and I it was a great choice. It is clean, friendly and a quiet place you can really enjoy after a few days in busy Tokyo or Kyoto. I have a feeling it is a family-run hostel located at the end of street from where you... More
