I originally wanted to stay at Nikko Guesthouse Sumica because of its popularity but I changed my mind and decided to try this "Hidden Gem" of Nikko as claimed by other reviewers. I was intrigued by this backpackers hostel because of its artistic and rustic style atmosphere based on their Facebook and website Photos and I appreciate Art so much.... More

This was one of my favorite places I stayed in Japan. It's very clean and unique and attracts people from all over the world. We had several family dinners. I spent a couple days climbing mountains around Nikko and came back to a hot shower and a very comfortable bed. I highly recommend staying at the Nikko Backpackers Hostel!

This is a common family house style hostel. So very homy, cozy and comfortable. It's located just across the bridge to Toshogu shrine area and yet it's one street behind the main road so nicely quiet. When you get through this charming small entrance room then you'll find unique, clean and cozy living / dinning room which heated by a... More

First this hostel couldn't be in a better location! Walking distance from the temples it's an idea place to stay for those who are doing a quick trip. The hostel itself was very clean and the beds were so super comfy. We stayed one night in a mixed dorm and saw just about everything there was to see in Nikko.... More

Stayed there for a night and it definitely not enough for me. The hostel itself is well designed and the room is big, There is a curtain on every bed which made a good privacy. There is also a balcony in the dorm room. Owner is nice although he cant speak fluent English which make the communication a bit difficult,... More

An ideal hostel for backpackers running to a tight budget. This place is lovely and the owners are extremely friendly. We stayed here just one night and were the only guests there. This might sound bad, with no other travelers to meet, but the owners had invited a few of their friends round and (despite the language barrier) we had... More

I really enjoyed my stay at Nikkoriso. The hostel had a great cozy, homely feel. It was clean, warm and quirky. A great location for all the sights. The owners were lovely and even dropped the other guests and I to the station in the morning after we checked out. The hostel is small enough that you get to know... More
