My family of three traveled to Nikko to see the World Heritage sites, and this hotel looked very convenient on the map, so we chose it. I'm so glad we did! A very short taxi ride from the Nikko JR station, or a 15-20 minute walk, but in the August heat, we opted for a cab. The desk staff were... More

This hotel is strategically and conveniently located as it is simply almost in front of the National Park where you find the World Heritage Shrines and Temples, leading up to it is the Shinkyo (Sacred Bridge) which is probably the most photographed icon in the area apart from the Kegon Falls. The hotel is in front of Bus Stop No.... More

Location was the best attribute of this Japanese style hotel geared for foreigners. You're smack in the middle of Nikko, just a few minutes walk from all the restaurants and all the temples. The owners are very kind (as everyone in Japan) but on the phone refused any reservation attempted in English. Japanese only! The hotel itself is very clean... More

All we wanted in Nikko was a Ryokan with a private toilet! This ended up being the winner for almost ONLY that reason, and we also liked that it was close to the shrine complex. This place is literally JUST across the bridge from the shrines, and has a bus stop RIGHT in front of it. Also, for vegetarians, their... More

The hotel staff is efficient, polite, and the facilities are clean. We stayed in a Japanese style room, not a Western room. I prefer to actually sleep on tatami mats. I found the room incredibly spacious for two people. I slept very well, and was not disturbed by street noise. Nikko can be chilly all the way up until the... More

Stayed here for one night during a visit to Nikko. I really enjoyed the experience. The facilities were quite basic i suppose but that was to be expected. But it had a private shower and a comfortable mattress style bed. I'd definitely recommend staying here for a night if you are visiting the sites of Nikko. Found it a little... More

We were not sure where the hotel was so took a cab from the station, as we had arrived later in the afternoon. We were pleased that the Shrine was so close to the hotel. The Toshogu Shrine closed at 4pm, so we went for a walk and had a small late lunch at a nearby café on the other... More

Quite a large hotel at the shrine end of town (far end of the main drag from the station/town centre area - about a 15 min walk). This means it's very conveniently located for the shrine complex (and especially the god-bridge over the river), and is right next to a bus stop for those not wanting to walk around. The... More

We stayed at Tokino Yuu for one night. The ryokan was at very convenient location to visit the shrines and temples in Nikko. The room was comfortable and staff were courteous. One of the staff can converse in English and made his best effort to attend to us (others too) when we need their attention. We booked the couple plan... More

This is a great hotel. The location is great, on the main drag in Nikko. There are restaurants within walkin distance. There is also a bus stop right outside door. You can easily walk from the Hotel to all the Temple/Shrine spots. The room we had was large, it is traditional with the mats, so was nice. Didn't try the... More
