Revenge is a good base for seeing the sights in Nikko. Everything can be reached either by walking or public trans. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Koko san is very knowledgeable, friendly, and serves a killer 7-8 course breakfast a mixture of western and Japanese items. Well work add-on. Pros Quiet and small... More

The hosts were very friendly and gave us lots of local tips- we particularly liked the evening stroll along the river to the nearby Jizo statues. We were so glad we had chosen the dinner package. The meals were excellent- some of the best we had in our visit to Japan (and very good value whiskies). Fantastic onsen too- highly... More

The pick up from the station, the choice of three private onsens, friendly advice and delicious breakfasts made Villa Revage an excellent choice in Nikko. The Suica card works on local buses and will help you to get around the sights in Nikko. Thanks to this lovely Japanese family for making our stay so comfortable and welcoming.

I chose this hotel becuase of the positive remark of other tripadvisor writers. However, I totally found this hotel was too overvalued. First, far from the two bus stops, no restaurant nearby, only a small supermarket at a distance. Exhausted? Tired? Hungry? No dinner, sorry, supermarket was your only choice. The road was badly lit and the night wind chilly.... More

The owner Kono-san speaks very good English and was very helpful. He picked us up shortly after we called from the JR train station and took us to the Inn, located a few miles away. On the way he pointed out a few of the sights and later explained how we could take the loop buses to see all the... More

Great little hotel very near the famous shrine. Bus to the lakes stops right in front of the hotel. Rooms are spotless and well furnished. As noted in previous reviews, the owner will do everything possible to make your stay memorable, picking you up at the station, giving excellent advice on area attractions, etc. Didn't try the hotel's restaurant, but... We had a nice stay, the owner was fantastic, he even drove us to the train station with his own car at 5:20AM because we were late and there were no taxis available. I'd like to come back here next time I visit Nikko. We are command asking the owner about the trail that goes from the hotel to the... More

This was a surprisingly beautiful place to stay. From the outside we had trouble finding it because there was work being done on the outside. Inside, though, it was perfect. There were several onsens to pick from to use, and I tried two of them. All private.

The most impressive future of this small family run inn is availability of three private Japanese baths. Each bath has a unique and artistic design. Two of them are located outside of a main building in a small pretty garden. Taking such a bath is an unforgettable cultural experience and a combination of physical and aesthetic pleasure. Also I would... More
