This was a surprisingly beautiful place to stay. From the outside we had trouble finding it because there was work being done on the outside. Inside, though, it was perfect. There were several onsens to pick from to use, and I tried two of them. All private.

The most impressive future of this small family run inn is availability of three private Japanese baths. Each bath has a unique and artistic design. Two of them are located outside of a main building in a small pretty garden. Taking such a bath is an unforgettable cultural experience and a combination of physical and aesthetic pleasure. Also I would... More

This is a small inn with about 7 Western style rooms and one tatami room (which I stayed in). The Western rooms are fairly simple. The tatami room is a traditional bed/living room with futons in the closet, and a separate bath and door to the hallway. The futons were very comfortable and the room nice although we did not... This was a great place to take my brother and his son when they visited us in Tokyo and was the highlight of their trip. The small inn with some interesting architectural touches offers a far more intimate style than the larger hotels and the owners seem to do everything they can to provide the highest level of traditional Japanese... My friend and I only stayed for one night at this adorable, family-run hotel, but when we left, we both said that we'd love to come back here again next time we're in Nikko. The place, we thought, was pretty convenient. The bus station was only three minute walk away, and since most tourists have the Nikko Transportation Pass, we... More

We stayed here in room #207 from the 13th-16th April; we wanted to go to Nikko after a 13 day tour and after looking at the reviews we selected this place. It lives up to all the good reviews, the hosts were wonderful, the accommodation is really good and the food is 5 star, have at least one dinner. Breakfast... More

My stay in Nikko was made very special by the superb hospitality I experienced at this family-run hotel. Mine host, Kono-san, and his wife and son run a lovely hotel, all pale wooden floors and architectural features and nice spaces, the rooms being larger than most Japanese hotel bedrooms and very comfortable. The highlight of my stay there was the... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was just perfect, great-value for the level of hospitality and accommodation. Kano is the owner and was gracious to pick me up and drop me off at the train station. You'll see his wife, son and even toddler grandson help manage the business. Gives it a warm personal family touch. Try the private... More
