Very nice room, with a terrace with view/access on the wood and private bath-tube. Excellent Japanse food both in the morning and for dinner (the half-board is strongly recommended). The staff is very helpful and organize tours to see various natural attractions in the area (waterfalls, etc). Good Quality/Price ratio compared to similar places in the area. Strongly recommended.

Great place to unwind after hectic sightseeing days in Tokyo. Wonderful rooms, great service and food. The hotel provides free shuttles to/from Nikko and sightseeing tours (world heritage site, waterfalls) so it's not necessary to buy a bus pass for Nikko.

If you want a nice place to relax combined with excellent Japanse food then this hotel is a very good place to stay. The staff is very helpfull ( but not always very good in English) the rooms are nice. ( you sleep on tatami bed ) The dinner and breakfast are a feast and the Onsen is very nice.

It was early March, and the Chuzenji Lake area was still snow bound. Yet hotel staff at Shikisai gave us warm welcome the moment we stepped into the front door. Our twin size tatami room was quite spacious with a beautiful view of the mountain slope and the lake not far beyond. The manager spoke very good English and gave... More

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in Japan and had a very relaxing and wonderful experience. We wanted a traditional experience and that is what we got. At first we had no clue of what we should do. Will we wear our Yakuta at dinner or should we wear our regular clothes, how do we eat the food,... More

This hotel's staff were so hospitable and helpful--we arrived early so one of the staff graciously drove us to a great noodle shop for lunch, then picked us up and took us to Kegon Falls. The onsen was amazing--three pools; one indoors with view, the other two outdoors. Sitting in the outdoor onsen with the snow falling on my face... More

From our arrival to our departure, everything was smooth going and bliss. The 4 of us had a great time enjoying Nikko and the facilities in the Ryokan. Both the dinner and breakfast was so special and awesome, just so oishii!! Service was with a smile and wholeheartedly executed. Even the bus driver, it was his last day at work... More

We arrived in Nikko by train at the JR station, put our bags into lockers and went to see the UNESCO World Heritage temples. We finished up about 1:45, took the tourist shuttle bus back to the station to collect our bags, and the hotel shuttle bus picked us up at 2:30, as we had reserved via e-mail. On the... More

We loved this ryokan. The place is quite simple but the service is amazing. Having missed the free shuttle, we took the bus from nikko station and called to let them know we were on our way. Once we stepped off the chuzenji onsen stop, the staff was waiting with a car to take us to the hotel. Although I... More

When I first reached the place, I was a little disappointed. I didn't expect it to look like a regular hotel. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The room was beautiful with all the little details. My room was quite big and could easily hold 4-5 persons although there were only 2 of us. The dinner and breakfast were exquisite. Although... More
