Excellent service and yummy tofu skin and tofu at dinner and breakfast. The outdoor onsen was great. Providing an hour and half bus tour of the waterfalls and landscape was wonderful for us as we did not rent a car. Taking buses to the sights would take a lot longer.

A perfect Stay with Hotel Shikisai for 2 nights during Christmas/New Year break. We had a modern Japanese room with open bath and private terrace. The hotel supply Japanese traditional clothes to wear within the compound for a 100% Japanese experience. The place is amazing with shared but not busy indoor and outdoor onsen that open most of the time.... More

This is my second time in Nikko but it's the first time we go up hill to stay in a resort next to Chuzenji Lake. We stayed at Shikisai for two nights and it was totally relaxing and amazing. Our room is overlooking a little forest by the lake. There is nothing much to see during winter but we still... More

My family stayed here for two nights. Its a very pleasant hotel, the staff are polite and obliging and the breakfast and dinner is very good. I went to the hotel's onsen both nights and it's very relaxing ; soaking beneath a maple tree while snow flutters down. It's a little out of the way though, the center of Chuzenji... More

My 3 nights stay at Hotel Shikisai was AMAZING!. Here’s why - The service here is excellent! Japan is known for their great service but here, it’s exception! Well done to the team here and special mention to H Takeda and Mori-san! They are amazing! Thank you so very much - The attention to details here is wonderful. One example... More

We booked Shikisai based on Tripadvisor feedback. Service is friendly and impeccable. The room was well appointed, facing the woods with lake Chuzenji in the background. The Kaiseki meal was ok but we expected more for the price we paid. The gender segregated onsens comprised of an indoor and two outdoors. Setting was great, the water quality was good and... More

Living in Japan I know what to expect from a Japanese hotel so I expected Shikisai to be a little tired in places with service to make up for it; their service is great, and the place could do with an upgrade but overall things ere fantastic. The staff try super hard to make you feel welcome and have English... More

Our party consisted of 6 adults and we decided on getting 2 japanese-style rooms for our 2 day stay. The rooms were plenty large for each group. We took the 8am train from Asakusa station on the SPACIA train to Nikko. The 2-day pass and SPACIA tickets were purchased that morning. I emailed the hotel to confirm the 2:40 shuttle... More

Getting there is easy as they offered a free shuttle service from Tobu-Nikko and JR Nikko station at around 230-240pm. The shuttle bus has Shikisai Hotel logo printed on it so it is easy to recognise. The staff are nice and helpful despite some speak very bad english. However, it is expected as English is not their first language and... More

Very nice room, with a terrace with view/access on the wood and private bath-tube. Excellent Japanse food both in the morning and for dinner (the half-board is strongly recommended). The staff is very helpful and organize tours to see various natural attractions in the area (waterfalls, etc). Good Quality/Price ratio compared to similar places in the area. Strongly recommended.
