I booked this ryokan as it was one of the only hotels in Nikko with availability for my last minute trip. I stayed 2 nights and was fortunate enough to get a deluxe room with a private onsen on the balcony, which was enclosed with large windows and shutters that can be opened or closed depending on how brave you... A lovely property just across the road to the famous temples' complex. We spoke zero Japanese, the embracing staff barely commands English , nevertheless it was as if we were the only guests... The specious rooms overlook a vibrant stream covered with greenery , while food ( all Japanese ) has been served with a smile, in a private room.... More

We spent 3 leisurely days in Nikko in the off season. This ryokan, is actually quite modern, with all the modern amenities and very clean. The japanese style rooms are big. Added bonuses all the rooms face the river , and its only 5 minutes walk from the world heritage shrines and temples. its about 2.5km from the train station.... More

We booked a 2 night stay at this ryokan to visit the shrines in Nikko and to experience Japanese style hospitality. Most guests at the hotel seemed to be Japanese. Parking is available by the stream, at the back of the hotel. We were greeted and provided with some tea and pickles while we checked in. We were then shown... More

We stayed at this hotel over a weekend as part of a trip through Japan. The hotel reminded me a little of the one in The Grand Budapest Hotel (if you've ever seen it) - lots of glamour that has faded a little over time. The high points for me are the location (right on the river with no other... More

We picked this place because of its location and the positive reviews we saw here. It's very, very close to the world heritage sites, and is about 2 mins' walk away from bus stops that take you to Chuuzenji, Yumoto or to Nikko station. We booked directly from their website (in Japanese only), and managed to arrange for them to... More

I chose this ryokan by visiting various hotel booking sites, then booked through my travel agent. The site didn't give me great information, so I was going on a whim, but was so very happy upon arrival. We walked in the door to see little hammer chalk boards with the guests names on them, it was a very amusing, but... More

This is just a fabulous place to stay for a very authentic Japanese experience. We stayed here for 2 nights but wish we had extended to 3. Room 311, very spacious accommodation for 2 adults, some fabulously modern touches (a full automated toilet....amazing!). Our room had its own Onsen, perfect for 2, overlooking the river - very relaxing to come... More

Stayed one night here and it was amazing. It was hard to leave the next day. The front desk staff speaks english well. The onsens, inside, outside, and our private one on our terrace were perfect. The view from our riverside room rivals any that I've seen. It's located minutes from the Toshogu shrine and offered to keep our luggage... More

We stayed at this Ryokan in Nikko for one night during a quick get-away from Tokyo and we loved it! We were three families, a total of 12 people. The Ryokan was booked through JTB, the Japan Travel Bureau and to me it was pure luck that it turned out to be everything I had hoped to show our friends... More
