We arrived at the Odawara train terminal at noon, and went directly to Hoeiso Ryokan. When we arrived, no one was in the lobby. After attracting the manager’s attention, we were told that we could not check in until 3:pm. We sat around for a few hours in the lobby waiting for our room. What a pleasant surprise. Our room... We stayed for 1 night (2 people) midweek in August. It is a short 10 min shuttle bus (¥1000) or the free pass bus from hakone yumoto station. Tell the person at the bus window you're going to Hoeiso and she'll direct you to the blue shuttle buses out front of the station. The stop is Kuzuhara so ask the... More

I stayed at this ryokan in June 2014 with my two children age 12. My mom and her friend stayed in a room next door. I totally overpaid for this room because they counted the kids as adults and I had to pay extra for the extra kid to be in my room. I thought it would be worth it... More

Based on our web searching we assumed we were visiting an old family ryokan. But this ryokan is more like a small hotel, built 50 or 60 years ago and not updated since. Stylistically that's interesting but also feels a bit shabby - images of The Shining at times. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view. The screens... More

This was a return visit to Kijitei after my first 5 years ago and although the sights of Hakone is just as beautiful, we were disappointed with the rooms arranged to us as it overlooked a hideous carpark in the middle of the beautiful mountain scenery. Thankfully, the food was exquisite and just as great as I remembered years ago,... More

Spent 2 night at Kijitei Hoeiso and our room/ appartment was very spacious. We had a bathroom with a shower and a bath tub. We also had a living room which gave view on the beautiful garden. Our dinning room and bedroom were also very spacious. On both night we had an amazing kaiseki dinner served by very nice and... More

We stayed at this gorgeous Ryokan for 2 nights....what can one say. We had the best sleep on the tatami mats and the most beautiful outlook from our room. The food was exceptional and was served by the most polite staff who were so helpful explaining what we were eating. The baths were so relaxing...make sure you try both the... More

This is one of my highlight trip of all. My friends and I stayed this place overnight. It very pricey but it worth it! The cost is including stay, dinner & breakfast, and onsen bath. I gotta say this is the best ryokoan hotel I have ever stayed in a long time. It was so very quiet and peaceful. You... More

This was our first Ryoken experience and a nice local spot to stay. While the place is quite dated and the lobby room they have you wait leaves much to be desired, the onsen outside are wonderful, and you can reserve them at night for couples. The women tending to the dinner and breakfast were wonderful, and it was fun... More

We arrived late around 6.00pm and the staff greeted us at the front door and took care of our luggage. The front desk staff set up our night and prepared a private bath session for my family. Green tea, JP cookies and hot towels were served in our big room as a welcome gesture from Hoeiso. Our room has a... More
