In between a week in Tokyo and four nights on Osaka, we took a night in the mountains. After a lovely day in Hakone we could easily find the ryokan right off the bus. We received a warm welcome from the manager who explained the facilities. We were shown to our room which was beautiful and had stunning views. The... More

Hotel Hoeiso is a ryokan in Hakune, Japan. Hoeiso is conveniently located on the way to Lake Ashi. A taxi ride will cost you about a 1000 yen but the Hotel bus shuttle is about 100 yens. The hotel is built on a hillside. The reception is on the top floor and guest rooms are below. The exterior of the... More

Stayed for one night on 11th May and had a wonderful stay. The ryokan is very convenient to get to from Hakone-yumoto station by bus K (Torzan bus as part of Hakone loop). It is situated right in front of Kuzuhara bus stop. We arrived earlier than check in time, which is at 3pm, to drop our bags. The staff... More

The place is so amazing as it is spring season!!! The room is more spacious than we never expect. Try to experience their traditional futon. Sleep so well and comfortable after having onsen! the traditional japan food is most delicious we have ever had!!! Staffs are so friendly and patient. Such a cool thing to do if you'd like a break from Tokyo to see a different side of Japan. The rooms were quite big, the food was great and changed every meal, and the staff were lovely. Tip: see the tourist centre at Hakone station about buying a Hakone Free Pass. 2 days for $40 to use on transport,... More

I stayed here last April '14. From the moment you set foot in the door you are treated amazingly. I can't remember the lady who attended our room but she was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was a bit exotic for my tastes but my girlfriend loved it. I'd personally go with the Western breakfast in the morning! The... More

A beautiful riyokan that gives you a taste of the traditional but with modern amenities to make your stay really comfortable. About 8 minutes from the shuttle from the Hakone station (buy the Free Hakone rail pass - free only in name but gives you transportation access in Hakone for everything). The shuttle drops you right outside the riyokan. The... More

My partner and I were incredibly excited about staying here. The personal welcome, as well as all interactions with staff really, we're a lovely touch. The room: It was huge. I mean it wasn't really a room but a small apartment with a sitting room, dining room, sleeping room, and separate toilet and bathroom. We had views over the gardens... More

I was really looking forward to this ryokan, and came from Kyoto to experience it as my last night in Japan. We initially got in really late but they managed to serve our dinner at 8pm which is a stretch and that was really appreciated and generous of them. But when the dinner arrived we were.... surprised. I just capped... More

My wife and I stay in this hotel for two nights. We chose the Japanese style room with tatami Sitting and sleeping on the floor. First, the room is amazingly big and clean even though the building looks little bit old. The service is excellent and staff is very willing to answer and help whatever question you ask about HAKONE... More
