The hotel is quite far from the Hakone train station. One way taxi fare costs about 1000 yen. If you are hungry when you reach Hakone, buy something from the 7-11 inconvenience store or the local shops before heading to the hotel. But keep in mind that all shops close by 6 PM. You can also reach the hotel via... More

Four of us stayed in Hoeiso for one night. It was difficult to each the ryokan as we travelled with public transport from Kawaguchiko to Hakone. But once we reached there it was easy to go around. By the time we reached Hoeiso we have already stayed in a normal ryokan at Mt Fuji and had many onsens. However the... More

The staff here know a bit of English so they were very helpful to let us know where to visit down by the lake, which buses to take to get there and back. It is very traditional, so the staff would make us hot tea on arrival, make our beds during dinner and clear up in the morning. Both dinner... More

In between a week in Tokyo and four nights on Osaka, we took a night in the mountains. After a lovely day in Hakone we could easily find the ryokan right off the bus. We received a warm welcome from the manager who explained the facilities. We were shown to our room which was beautiful and had stunning views. The... More

Hotel Hoeiso is a ryokan in Hakune, Japan. Hoeiso is conveniently located on the way to Lake Ashi. A taxi ride will cost you about a 1000 yen but the Hotel bus shuttle is about 100 yens. The hotel is built on a hillside. The reception is on the top floor and guest rooms are below. The exterior of the... More

Stayed for one night on 11th May and had a wonderful stay. The ryokan is very convenient to get to from Hakone-yumoto station by bus K (Torzan bus as part of Hakone loop). It is situated right in front of Kuzuhara bus stop. We arrived earlier than check in time, which is at 3pm, to drop our bags. The staff... More

Such a cool thing to do if you'd like a break from Tokyo to see a different side of Japan. The rooms were quite big, the food was great and changed every meal, and the staff were lovely. Tip: see the tourist centre at Hakone station about buying a Hakone Free Pass. 2 days for $40 to use on transport,... More

I stayed here last April '14. From the moment you set foot in the door you are treated amazingly. I can't remember the lady who attended our room but she was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was a bit exotic for my tastes but my girlfriend loved it. I'd personally go with the Western breakfast in the morning! The... More

A beautiful riyokan that gives you a taste of the traditional but with modern amenities to make your stay really comfortable. About 8 minutes from the shuttle from the Hakone station (buy the Free Hakone rail pass - free only in name but gives you transportation access in Hakone for everything). The shuttle drops you right outside the riyokan. The... More
