Staying in a ryokan is a unique experience, which should be worked into every Japan itinerary for at least one night! We stayed one night at Fukuzumiro and it was a highlight of our two weeks in Japan. The service was top-notch, and the setting was exactly as I had imagined a traditional ryokan to be. Dinner was incredible -... More

Stayed 2 nights in this magical place. It's been an amazing experience, definitely worth the money. It was my first time staying at a Ryokan, but the staff tried everything to make this a memorable experience. After my arrival I received a thorough introduction into how staying at a Ryokan works. I was greeted with tea and sweets in my... More

This is a historical Ryokan dating back to 1910- so much history and beauty! Stayed for one night and had the experience of a lifetime! We loved dressing up in traditional attire and dining in our room. We were initially daunted by the exotic food (which we were kept in the dark about) but the host took great care in... More

We had an amazing family experience at Fukuzumiro! Historical buildings and baths, friendly and helpful staff, and delicious food! After some busy days in grueling Tokyo, this was exactly the zen experience we needed to reload the batteries. The grandiose nature of Hakone had us thrilled at our day trips. Go there as soon as you can!

My daughter and I recently spent three lovely days at the Fukuzumiro Ryokan. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The breakfast and dinner services were tasty, fresh, and well presented. Even with heavy rains due to a nearby typhoon, the staff ensured an enjoyable stay and facilitated local area travel and offsite meals.

After a long, difficult day of travel for our family of 5 to reach Fukuzumiro Ryokan, we hopped off the bus from Odawara Station and walked across the bridge hauling our luggage in the rain. The staff was so welcoming, and from the moment we entered the ryokan we felt completely pampered and relaxed. Our hostess was absolutely lovely, explaining... More

We knew we wanted to experience an onsen and stay at a traditional ryokan while in Japan, but didn’t really know what to expect. Our experience at Fukuzumiro was amazing on so many levels - the location, the atmosphere, the hosts! Coming from Kyoto, we used our JR pass for the Shinkansen to Odawara. There’s a Hakone info/ticket office in... More

Fukuzumiro is an affordable ryokan option in Hakone. It is an historic building with a little garden, onsen, nice staff and good dinner. It was good for the price. We stayed at a small japanese room with a view of the river. There are three baths at the onsen: one for women, the other for men and a small private... More

The place is warm and historical. Great hospitality! Nice Onsen! We stayed 1 night at Fukuzumiro on Jun 2. requested vegetarian meals (dinner and breakfast) beforehand . Hotel carefully asked what kind of food we could take and our preference, how nice! We were nicely served with 2 beautiful meals!

I have always dreamed of taking my family to a ryokan for an incredible experience but this was beyond my wildest expectations. It was classic Japanese refinement and simplicity at its best. This is no over the top luxury hotel, this is ryokan onsen refinement. Striking classic architecture set in the forest beside a rushing river. You will sleep on... More
