We knew we wanted to experience an onsen and stay at a traditional ryokan while in Japan, but didn’t really know what to expect. Our experience at Fukuzumiro was amazing on so many levels - the location, the atmosphere, the hosts! Coming from Kyoto, we used our JR pass for the Shinkansen to Odawara. There’s a Hakone info/ticket office in... More

Fukuzumiro is an affordable ryokan option in Hakone. It is an historic building with a little garden, onsen, nice staff and good dinner. It was good for the price. We stayed at a small japanese room with a view of the river. There are three baths at the onsen: one for women, the other for men and a small private... More

The place is warm and historical. Great hospitality! Nice Onsen! We stayed 1 night at Fukuzumiro on Jun 2. requested vegetarian meals (dinner and breakfast) beforehand . Hotel carefully asked what kind of food we could take and our preference, how nice! We were nicely served with 2 beautiful meals!

I have always dreamed of taking my family to a ryokan for an incredible experience but this was beyond my wildest expectations. It was classic Japanese refinement and simplicity at its best. This is no over the top luxury hotel, this is ryokan onsen refinement. Striking classic architecture set in the forest beside a rushing river. You will sleep on... More

Booked it after reading all the Tripadvisor reviews. It was great. We were going to walk from the Hakone Yumoto Station but after the Mt. Fuji tour but were advised by our tour guide that it's safer to take the bus. We took the local "C" bus line to Fukuzumiro for about 100 Yen. The streets are narrow and they... More

Fukuzumiro had the warmth and hospitality of what tourists would expect a ryokan to be - and much more. Though we had gotten lost finding the Ryokan, the ryokan staff ushered us in warmly and kept our stuff in our room while we explored Hakone. When we came back, our belongings were already in our room, as our helpful attendant... More

We had such a great time at this Ryokan. Rooms were big, had free WiFi and the view into the garden was incredible! When we went, it was not too busy even though it was cherry blossom season. Onsens were great and a nice break after a long day of walking. They even had a private one you can visit... More

In spite of a few negative reviews we booked to stay two nights at the Fukuzumiro as it seemed to offer a genuine Japanese Ryokan experience and we were not disappointed. Our room was a twin room with shared bathroom facilities overlooking the river and which was spacious and well presented with woven straw floor coverings, sliding paper walls and... More

This felt like a real authentic Japanese experience. But I have to say I would not like to stay for more than one night. They have onsen for men, women and one private that doesn't cost anything additionally and you don't have to book in advance. There was a small queue when we wanted to use it but then went... More
