We stayed 3 nights in this great little hotel in Hakone. It's modern but has a very traditional Japanese feel. Stayed in what they call a western style room, with two double beds, but there was also an area of the room with a low table and tatami mats. The room was quite large and windowed extensively with great natural... More

The hotel's location was beautiful. My room looked out upon greenery. There were regular beds, not futons for our group. There is a lovely onsen, which I did not use but saw. There are private hot baths that did not seem appealing, however. I just loved the deluxe massage chair adjacent to the onsen, which was available gratis. The breakfast... More

Stayed here 2 nights on a tour. Our room was fairly large for Japan. It included an alcove with a low tea table. We both enjoyed the onsen here. But it was our first time so we have nothing to compare to. The azaleas in the front garden were in bloom and were spectacular. The view of Mt. Fuji from... More

We stayed here as most other places in Hakone were outrageously priced. We took a traditional room which was fitted out with tatami mats, sliding paper doors and had futons for beds. All in all the room was actually pretty good with lots of space and was very clean. The onsen were fine, my wife would have liked an onsen... More

We booked Hakone Hotel Kagetsuen through our local travel office as a spur of the moment trip. We took the Odakyu Romance train to Hakone-yumoto station. Since we wanted to sightsee around the train station, we tried to take advantage of the local baggage delivery service. Unfortunately, for the same day drop off service, bags have to be dropped off... More

However, it is still very nice. The staff was outstanding! They went out of their way to be friendly & the food served to our group was fantastic. The views were lovely & they had a fantastic massage therapist, who would come to your room for very little money. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have a bar,... More

First of all do not be put off by what looks like a white monolith in the forest, it's what's inside that counts. Check in for 2 nights was efficient, our overnight bags from the station awaited us, our Room 205 was quite large & excellent. A blend of Japanese, raised tatami area with table, chairs, TV but with two... More

After looking around for a moderately priced ryokan-style hotel and not finding one, we tried this hotel. We stayed a Thursday and Friday night in early April and really enjoyed our stay. We had a "triple," with three single beds, but the room was structured so our daughter was on the other side of the room and a partition gave... More

This is a great spot for getting out and about in Hakone. We didn't book any meals but ended up having breakfast and dinner on all three nights stay - and they were great! Although we think a bar may be advertised, we don't think there is one. This ended up being great as there are lots of vending machines... More

Stayed here overnight! Easy check- in, although they had to go fetch an English speaking member of staff. Rooms are clean and spacious but did smell a little musty! We'd a fab view looking out over the mountains! It's very close to Lake Ashinoko for the scenic boat trip and the ropeway. We didn't have food as we thought it... More
