We had a room of 風の庵 which room with private open-air baths, the dinner and breakfast are very nice. You can take a bus from Hakone-yumoto Station to the hotel, it takes 7 mins and cost 100 yen pax. or if you go from Moto-hakone or Moto-hakone-ko area, you could take bus route M from there, around 30 mins and... Spent the weekend relaxing in the outdoor tub that fits a family of three and possibly more! The tub was huge. And we enjoyed a view of cherry blossom trees while soaking in the hot tub. The tatami room was perfect. We had room service for dinner and breakfast and for turning out the futon. The food they served was... More

It's first time for me to visit Hakone, it's a little bit remote area, far away from the metropolitan. We call this kind of hotel as "Hot spring hotel", you can enjoy the hot spring bath anytime you like when you stay in the hotel. I'll say the dinner is the most remarkable thing during the period I stayed in... More

My boyfriend and I wanted a hotel in Hakone with an in room Onsen but since we only had time to be in Hakone for 1 day and didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money, Nanpuso was definitely the best choice. It is far enough from the station to be quieter but still was on the route for... More

It's a bit drab and dated, but this hotel provides excellent customer service. The onset is clean and well maintained, the amenities provided are very good, and with breakfast and dinner included in the room rate you won't need to spend much on lunch as both meals are enormous! The tiramisu provided at dessert was a big favourite with my... More

My wife and I recently visited Japan for two weeks. We wanted to experience the local culture and a particular hotel patronised almost entirely by locals for honeymoons, weekend retreats or possibly only one night, was recommended by our travel agent. The 'about' 4+-star hotel featured a huge, traditional Onsen (natural hot spring spa), everyone wore their traditional 'dressing gowns'... More

This was a very good experience. When I say very Japanese; the thing is I think we were the only non Japanese in the Hotel - the staff dont speak much English; but they compensate by trying very hard. This Hotel was suggested to us by JTB - the advantage is it has Japanese / Western style rooms in 1... More

This hotel was our first traditional ryokan experience. Our room was located on the third floor in number 305. From the balcony It has an amazing view of the flowing river waters of mt Fuji. Right now it is 9.30pm where I have just come out of the most relaxing private Onsen experience with my wife. I am lying down... More

I liked the look of the hotel when I first arrived, but sadly my first impression of the hotel was only lasted until I entered the hotel lobby, which was big, old and drab certainly not all that inviting. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel staff in my opinion were certainly the best thing about this hotel.... More

We booked a room with a private onsen for 2 nights. The hotel itself is big and some rooms are renovated, some others are not so your experience will highly depend on where you stay. The reception is really old and does not really look good. The hotel is a bit secluded but this is good given that Hakone is... More
