The Prince is a slightly faded grand hotel in the beautiful Hakone hot springs area, on the shores of Lake Ashi. The hotel was built in 1978 (or so I read on some website) and has really not been fully renovated. True, the rooms now have flat screen TVs but the furniture is faded and the wallpaper is peeling back... More

I recently stayed at the Prince Hanoke hotel. I had only intended to stay two nights, ended up staying three but wishing I could stay forever. I chose this hotel without reading any reviews but put my faith in the branding of the Prince hotels. I had stayed in their Shinjuku hotel, and was not disappointed by this hotel. Location:... More

The hotel has beautiful gardens and in April a lot of cherry blossoms were in bloom with Mt Fuji in the backgroud. It is rather secluded from Hakone but that made it a nice and quiet location to stay at. The hotel itself was rather outdated, in my opinion, but clean and comfortable as well as well priced.

Location is very secluded with wonderful view of lake ashi. Mount Komagatake ropeway is just 3 mins walk from the hotel lobby. Hakone-en pier also located next to the ropeway, boat comes every 30 mins to moto hakone pier. This beautuful hotel is pretty old but very well maintained, there is 1 japanese resto and 1 french resto within the... More

This hotel is great if you are looking for a little get-away from the city in the beautiful surroundings of Hakone. We stayed a couple of nights and visited the area. The spa is excellent, it features an indoor and outdoor pool. The setting is quite stunning and the restaurant, albeit dear, was excellent. The only problem is that the... More

As a group of 4 friends travelling around Japan for the first time, we stayed 3 days at this resort back in November 2010. From the moment we arrived from Tokyo and was picked up by the resort's shuttle bus, we knew an exciting time was to come. The drive up into the mountain takes about an hour and was... More

we stayed here 1 night. rooms clean, nice, comfortable. But mostly the grounds of the hotel are by a lake the you can see the Fuji. We had clear skies and woke up to see beautiful white Fuji in from of us. We took a warm baths again so nice and clean. Right near the hotel there is a cable... More

The Prince Hakone sits right on Lake Ashi facing Mount Fuiji. It's a bit old and chintzy and the restaurant menus are limited plus there's no bar. Rooms are old-fashioned but very spacious. It probably has the most character of all the Hakone hotels but if you want to be nearer the main attractions, the Hakone Hotel is better situated.... More

This is a beautiful hotel in a spectacular site, with excellent service. The Japanese restaurant us hands down superior to the 'French' one, with an excellent breakfast and a wonderful dinner menu. The view of mt Fuji on a clear day is spectacular. My only complaint is the lack of wifi anywhere but in the lobby close to the checkin... More

This is undoubtedly a 'high end' hotel but it is getting somewhat dated and the service in the French restaurant was the poorest I experienced in Japan. The staff actually seemed confused as to what was expected of them. The set dinner was good with a excellent steak, although overall it could have done with more generosity on the portion... More
