Our one night stay at Gora Tensui remains the highlight of our recent trip. We call it the holiday from our holiday. The service was great, the food was good and the rooms were cozy and very comfortable. Upon arrival, you're greeted with a welcome drink and a foot spa at the bar while you wait for check-in. Ladies get... More

This was my first stay at a ryokan. Overall, my experience was great. The service was first class from beginning to end. When you register, they offer you a drink on the house, and you can soak your feet in a bath while you have your drink. The food quality, quantity, presentation, and variety was perfect for me. For example,... More

On our second trip to Japan and the Hakone area our travel agent booked us into this superb ryokan, which is mainly traditional but with a few extra westernised touches. The meet and greet with a leisurely foot bath and drink (inc champagne if you want it) whilst you complete registration is a good start. Then you're showed to your... More

This was a great place to relax from busy Tokio. You check in whilst having a foot bath. There is a variety of Onsons including a private one. The only thing I didn't appreciate was the overpriced breakfast & dinner. Itoh Dining by Nobu is by far better and similar in price.

If you want to escape from the city life, this hotel proper you can be surrounded by the unordinary life. For example,Bar counter with foot bath while checking in hotel, private open air hot springs, Relaxation SPA Aroma Healing etc. Also my favorite breakfast is good. We can choose Japanese or Western, but I think Japanese was so good. We... More

We visited Hakone in October of this year and I am just getting round to writing my reviews. Gore Tensui was the best thing about the Hakone area for us. Unfortunately because of seismic activity we could not go onto the cable cars to see the views so a trip on the furnicula and a boat trip across Lake Ashi... More

Loved the traditional Japanese rooms, bathroom amenities and robes for the Onsen. They have private Onsens or communal. The larger communal one is gorgeous and each time we went we had it all to ourselves! The staff were lovely & we had a fantastic dinner at a Japanese restaurant next door. Beautiful bar area where you can soak your feet... More

The unusual welcome of a glass of Moet while soaking ones feet was unique. The rooms are large and furnished in the old Japanese style. I personally don't like the hard floor mattress and didn't sleep well. The highlight is the location and the food. The large number of courses for breakfast and dinner was different for both days we... More

This was our one night of luxury during our trip to Japan and it was definitely worth paying the extra few dollars. Greeted with a delicious welcome drink of bubbles the room was really large, bed was comfy, view was beautiful. We had our own onsen in the room and we also took the opportunity to use the private onsen... More

I had just finished climbing Mt. Fuji the day before and was extemely interested in taking a soak in an onsen. When I arrived in Gora at the train station, I found this place was only one block away. I walked in not knowing what to expect. I also didn't have a room booked in advance. However, I was greeted... More
