Arrived early and left our luggage as we were catching the ropeway into the mountains to see Mount Fuji and then the boat across the lake then the bus back to Gora. By then we were ready to sit at the hot springs bar soaking our feet and having (my daughter and I ) champagne cocktails ....the men folk had... More

If you want a real Japanese experience without the inconvenience of being with other guests who don't speak English then this is the place. All of the guests were Westerners, most of them wearing yukatas and slippers - a sensible precaution if you want to drink at the bar because your feet will rest in a moat-like reservoir as you... Booked two nights in a Japanese style room with private open air bath. I had made several special arrangements for the stay to celebrate my bf's birthday. Like what the other reviewer mentioned, I received an email from the hotel around 11pm the night before I was traveling to Hakone/Gora (I was in Osaka). The email was a little too... More

We were so looking forward to staying in this hotel because of the great reviews, dining, stone bathtub and proximity to Gora station. We arrived to check-in and was offered welcome drinks. However, we were then given bad news that because of an electricity outage last night no hot water was available in this hotel and nearby premises. Instead Gora... More

I only have wonderful words to describe this place; I also don't have anything else to compare it, but the entire experience was great. I read a bit about it before booking it so I knew what to expect in large lines. The foot bath bar was a blessing after having travelled the entire day; the food is just amazing,... More

We very much looked forward to the stay at hte Gora Tensui as part of our Japan trip. Location of the Ryoan is very good, lose to the Gora station, but far enough that you're not bothered by noise. Check in was easy and fast. Welcome drink on the house and foot bath on the bar. BEfore going to your... More

We stayed for one night at the western styled room with bath. It felt luxurious from the moment we walked in - enjoying a warm foot bath and a welcome drink before we even checked in. I was asked to pick among many beautiful yukatas (only for the ladies) before escorted to our room, which was big, tastefully decorated and... More

Modern, hybrid version of traditional ryokan. Be sure to reserve for dinner – there really is no place to eat anything or buy anything to eat in vicinity of Gora station. Neat foot-bath-welcome-drink in lobby upon arrival. They made me change into larger yukata (robe) since the size “L” robe they had in my room was too short for a... More

The small hotel is quite comfortable. Most of the staff can speak English, and is courteous and helpful. Their Japanese cuisines are somewhat unconventional, but worth a try for open-minded travelers. The advantages are three "baths", including a hot rock bed, which resembles an oven. The down-side is their location. It is really close the the main station, but guests... More

This was an excellent guest house and very convenient for our weekend in Hakone being close to Gora station for the train and cable car. We were welcomed with a drink at the lovely reception bar with the hot spring footbath at the counter. We were in a Japanese style room with our own outdoor bath which was all lovely... More
