I had a wonderful experience with this hotel. I traveled to Hakone for one night (weekend trip) with my husband and two small children. The room was larger than average for Japan, with all the amenities you need for a family: free wifi, refrigerator, TV, large bathroom. The hotel onsen was also very pleasant. I took my daughter into the... More

My husband and I stayed at hotel Kowakien as part of an overnight trip to Mount Fuji. Upon booking this trip I had a quick google search to see how this hotel faired. I SO wished I spent a bit more time reading more than 2 reviews because it is the worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure of... More

We booked a room with a private onsen and absolutely loved our stay. It was our favorite hotel stay experience by far! The room was very modern and clean. I can't go on enough about how awesome the outdoor hot spring tub is. There was a faucet knob for hot spring water and cold water. We went in November so... More

I stayed one night in this hotel. The hotel is quite good in terms of nature view that we can enjoy. However, the room is a bit old, need renovation. The onsen is not bad as well. The breakfast is standard.

I am actually writing this review 1 hour after checking into the hotel and I have a lot to say. Liars liars, the photos of the hotel hide everything that is wrong about it. The carpets in the halls and rooms are disgusting, stained and smelly, the walls have humidity in them, and guess what... The room smells stuffy and... More

I visited this hotel for one overnight stay, to see the Hakone area, and possible Mt Fuji. I booked it from the internet with no experience or reviews. It is a lovely hotel, very reasonably priced, clean and hospitable. The twin room we were given was spacious, with separate toilet and shower facilities. There is free wi-fi which is very... More

The good points: friendly and helpful staff - one man actually walked us across the road in the rain to show us the bus stop we needed to go to; walking distance to the Yunessun onsen (the fun one), the Tozen railway, a Family Mart and a 7/11 (where we ate on the first night!). The negative points: the carpets... More

We stayed at the hotel for a day as part of a tourist package that also included Shinkansen tickets from Tokyo. The gardens are indeed beautiful and sprawling. Due to limited time, we only used the onsen and the buffet restaurant. The onsen was crawling with Chinese (PRC) tourists. We ate at the restaurant as there were no other outlets... More

This is a nice hotel. We stayed here for one night for a trip to see Mount Fuji. Hakone is an area made up of little towns, so this particular hotel is about halfway between Lake Aishi (Mt Fuji) and the main town of Hakone-Yumoto. I quite liked the hotel and the bus stop for sightseeing is right outside, so... More
