I spent summer and winter vacations here in my childhood. There were many foreigners staying here, so I had to learn and follow Western rules. That was half century ago, but they are still serving a quality relaxing atmosphere to their guests. The properties are a bit tired, so they started renovations. When my family visited there, we were fortunately... More

This Hotel is a perfect place for relaxation and have some fresh air. Hotel garden is well decorated and beautiful, good view too, I like it very much. The Yunessun Onsen Theme Park is a Hot spring, just walk across the road, I am sure you would like it. Good place.

We booked a package that included this hotel in japanican.com so we only stayed overnight. We arrived here on a rainy day, and were tired because we had to walk (hike) to reach this hotel under the drizzling rain from Kowakidani station. When we got checked in our exhaustion melted away. The view from our room was amazing, we saw... More

Our friends booked us a room for two nights at a bargain price as it included the room plus a large breakfast and two day passes for the Yunessen spa over the road. The hotel is easy to get to-we got off the Shinkansen at Odawara then straight onto a bus which stopped at the hotel entrance. It's located in... More

The area around the hotel is beautiful, the rooms were a good size and the hotel onsen is lovely and relaxing. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, even though some of them spoke little English. However this is an overpriced hotel, both to stay there and to eat, considering how dated the decor is, almost a little bit... More

Since this is a resort area, all of the hotels are overpriced for what you get, so go in with low expectations and maybe you won't be too disappointed. This is a typical mountain resort which can mean a bit rough around the edges. The good: location, room size, garden views, on-site restaurants are non-smoking as are some rooms The... More

Positives- the hotel is close to Yunessan onsen water park which we all enjoyed as our kids would not go to the lovely traditional hotel onsen. My husband enjoyed the public hotel onsen both indoor and outdoor. I enjoyed the super hot spa water that comes directly to your tub/shower. The restaurants are excellent but expensive. My kids loved the... More

This was my second time to stay here. Before, I visited as a couple with some friends. The hotel is in a big complex and great if you are visiting Yunessan (Spa attraction resort) fun for family and friends. It is right next to it. The hotel is not so new, but well maintained. Bathroom and the rooms are small,... More

We had planned a 2 day trip to Hakone and Mt Fuji so I had booked a room for me and my wife to stay here for the night. The hotel is very good and I got a prebooking done as the hotel usually gets full soon. After having an exhausting travel around Hakone, we reached the hotel by 4:30pm.... More

The hotel is situated near Yunessan oncen, which is the best thing about it. There's also a 7\11 kiosk, where first-hand items can be found. There is also a very good Japanese restaurant at the premices. The hotel itself is okay, and no more. The rooms are not very large, mine was overlooking the garden. The breakfast is fine, both... Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Several years ago I was in Japan for 7 days. Stayed in 3 different 6 star hotels, but Hotel Kowaki-en, Hakone National Park, impressed me so much as it was simply out of this world, with incredible service, hyper-luxurious rooms with elegant bathroom. Simply so fairytale like that anyone ever stayed there will remeber it forever. It's like Paradise. Have the correct address in Denmark, where I'll arrive in 10 days. ... more   less
