I travelled solo and booked a room which was reasonably price. However the room was located across from main hotel (called Annex Posada under my Japanican reservation). While this did cause slight inconvenience due to the rain, it's no show stopper to result in lower rating. The single bed room Is small but sufficient for one pax but clean and... More

We booked the deluxe semi western style room with kaiseki dinner for 4 of us for a night. Upon check in, my gal pal and I were led to choose our own yukatas which was a really pleasant surprise as we thought that everyone would be dressed the same! Whereas for the guys, their yukatas were already placed in our... More

Yes, I realize you visit for the hot springs. And their hot springs are wonderful. And so are their meals. The buffet dinner and buffet breakfast the following morning were outstanding. But I give it four stars because the rooms are small, the pillows hard as rocks, and the bathroom is something you might find in a Western RV -... More

This was our first experience of a Ryokan, and it was such fun. The staff were super friendly, and had enough English to help us use the bus, and order food and drink. Our room was lovely, with a little balcony overlooking mountains and hills. The novelty of wearing (supplied) yakatas throughout the hotel was fun. We tried the lovely... More

We only spent one night at this Ryokan but it was a great experience. The room was spacious with a lovely little balcony overlooking a peaceful view of trees which was a relaxing place to enjoy a cup of Japanese tea. The evening meal and breakfast which was included was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The icing... More

It was a great quick stay: just one day. Surprisingly for us, both the room as well as the bathroom were rather big. Of course, everything was super clean, and the staff super friendly with us (nevertheless, they should seriously put someone in the reception that speaks better English). The best part of the hotel was the Onzen: super relaxing... More

This Hotel was the high light of accommodation for our 3 day stay in the Hakone region. The hotel had it's own Bakery at the front of the entrance even though the staff didn't speak any English that didn't stop our translation getting across from which we took from our Japanese language book. The traditional tatami mat room we had... More

We loved our spacious room with the sound of the water flowing outside. We arrived after our Mt Fuji daytrip from Tokyo and booked into dinner in the Japanese restaurant there where we had a superb dinner. The best part though was going to the hot spring baths, the outdoor hot spring was just delightful nestled amongst the trees. It was cold and... We're Americans traveling on our own. We took day tour to Hakone from Tokyo, and decided to stay one night in "traditional japanese hotel" before going to Kyoto. So here are the plusses of this hotel: We had rolling luggage, and from the train station it was a breeeze, and a pretty walk. Elevator literally greets you when you cross... More

As we were told many times by our teacher, they were afraid that we--foreigners from America would make loud noise and disturb others. it was the oppostite, the one that made loud noise were the other Japanese students and middle age drunks. The ride from the station to the Ryokan was a bit longer than expected, felt dizzy going round... More
