Pro's: - Price is relatively affordable for a Ryokan - Good location to stay for exploring Hakone - Situated right along the river just where a small (not sure what you call it) water fall is located. Could step through the window/door onto the balcony for a nice scenic sight of the river. - Close proximity to Hakone-Yumoto train station... More

Interesting place to stay and comfortable for us in a small cosy room plus a compact yet adequate bathroom. Toilet seat was warm and comfortable. Back to basics but wonderful. Breakfast was served in the room and it was delicious. You have to enjoy Japanese style food and room. We did, plus the onsen was relaxing. Staff were friendly and... More

The best feature about this accommodation is the location, just perfect 5 minutes from the station, next to a river which gives a superb sound to make you sleep like a baby. The staff is attentive and add a lot to the Japanese spa experience. The room was dated, yet well maintained and clean. The private hot tubs at the... More

I feel a little mean only giving 3 stars but can't quite justify 4. The room was nice and a good size. Obviously being a ryokan the bed is a futon on the floor that the staff will set up when you leave your room and was very comfortable. The private onsen was nice but extremely hot, hotter than any... I choose this hotel for it's location. They offer large japanese style rooms which for the price I found great value! You can easily get here from Odawara, so you don't need to stress about travel. Very close to the station to also venture up the mountain. Do yourself a favor and cool the private onsen. For 2000 yen for... More

We booked this hotel one month before our trip, and already there weren't many options left, probably because it was the peak period. The locator is excellent, less than 5 mins away from the station. The room is average, can tell that the hotel has seen younger days. It is nice to have dinner and breakfast in your own room,... More

Located down a side street just a few yards from Hakone-Yumoto station this hotel looks modern from the outside but is traditional on the inside. The rooms are located at the back of the hotel overlooking a fast running river with cataracts. They are traditional tatami mat rooms with sliding doors but with en-suite facilities. There is are two communal... More

Booked this on Japanese Guest Houses for one night. When we looked up reviews for Suimeisou, they were very mixed, many saying the place was only good for its location, the rooms smelt like cigarette smoke and the place was old. It was less than a 5 minute walk and easy to find from Hakone Yumoto train station. The place... More

Literally 5 min walk from Hakoneyumoto station by the river, lots of shops nearby and buses to all the places in Hakone. Hotel was a bit of a disappointment if you are looking for a real Japanese Onsen experience, meals served in rooms, so rest time can be restricted as they wake you to prepare your room for meals. The... More

Mid range kind of ryokan hotel but pleasant enough. Service was friendly and efficient, they are very helpful to accommodate our special meal request of non-meat and non-alcohol breakfast though they are not very familiar with Muslim travelers. Futon, yukata, private open air onsen, good introduction to those interested to try ryokan experience at affordable price. Location is excellent, near... More
