This is a lovely spot, and the hotel although vaguely brutal in architectural style is very comfortable. EXCEPT for the non functioning aircon which sounds petty but the full afternoon sun strikes the glass fronted rooms making them into ovens. Attempts to have this rectified at the front desk fell on uncomprehending ears. Ah well! The view is magnificent and... More

I arrived via the ferry at Hakone machi terminal and easily located the hotel. Granted, the price was expensive but the service was excellent. The staff who greeted me took the trouble to show me the breakfast area, my room and every minute details including how to operate the bidet. At the end of the lengthy intro and explanation in... I stayed in this hotel for two nights recently. I stayed in the Junior Suite with the hope that it gave me the lake view but to my disappointment the junior suite structure was strange enough that the balcony was covered by another external structure that kind of blocking your view and you have to see through a few columns... First impressions count and, well, this place looks like a prison. Not kidding. It's made entirely of concrete with an ominous smoking chimney at one end. There is a shuttle bus from Odawara station, which requires reservation in advance. Helpfully, the tour bus doesn't actually have the name of the Hotel anywhere on it (hint: it says Fujima Group). Lovely... More

We decided to stay at this hotel because we were collecting a custom order from Izumiya (a Hakone Yosegi parquetry shop a short distance down the road) and wanted a convenient and comfortable base to stay in Hakone-machi for a couple of days. Spacious room (especially compared with our budget hotel in Tokyo), furniture looked a little shabby as if... More

The hotel itself was rather understated , but had comfortable, large rooms--and the view over lake Ashi was exquisite. When we awoke on our first morning, we were treated to a spectacular view of Mt Fugi just peaking out through the clouds. The mountain was on view the entire morning, and we are so thankful that digital photography is ours!... More

This hotel is comfortable and pretty well designed and renovated unlike the reviews stated it to be run down and old. The front of the hotel is nicely decorated, staff at the counter are well conversed in english allowing smooth and easy communication with both staff and guests. One point to note when making your booking online is, we booked... More

The Hakone hotel is perfect to stay in as a tourist for a few days while exploring the nearby Hakone/Fuji area. The view from the hotel is really splendid! Seeing fishermen on Lake Machi and Mt Fuji from your room in the morning is a real nice way to wake up. Check in was fast and efficient, like everywhere else... More

My fiance and I stayed at Hakone hotel for one night during a trip to Japan. The location is excellent. Right by the Hakone Machi sightseeing cruise pier and here is also a bus stop right outside the hotel. The hotel could do with a bit of TLC and redecorating inside and out. The rooms look a little dated but... More
