Stayed for 1 night in late December. Extremely satisfied with the stay. Room is spacious and cosy with Japanese decor. Free in room mini bar is good with many cans of Sapporo beer and 2 cans of sparkling wine. Loved the onsen. And the food! The kaseiki dinner is delicious and there are so many courses. Service in this hotel... More

Quite an excellent mixture of authentic Japanese "onsen" - hotspring experience and improved / modern services, including all inclusive beverage offer and "bed" room. It has quite a nice public bath which has a nice view of the yard/river/hill. Private bath is small in the room which I didn't use. Foods are served in a dedicated dinig room where service... More

I read different reviews on this place but decided to give it a try. Otaru is a 30mins+ train ride from Sapporo and it is very coastal and more romantic place of hokkaido. This is the second time i am here so did not really do much tourist thing but just find a nice onsen place to relax. Kuramure, i... More

So where do I begin.. We had the garden view room that looked out to Japanese Garden. There is a natural stream running behind the garden therefore when you open the window, you will hear such a serene sound of water. OK, so the rooms may be claustophobic as the windows are only half way up the ceiling, and the... More

We stayed at a so called garden view room which view was looking at a wall 4 feet away from the window. The bedroom has 2 very very small square windows near to the ceiling with no curtains. The sun came in at 4am and it was quite a nuisance. The hotel seeves mediocre quality food, the cooked fish and... More

For some reason, Hokkaido has always been on my bucket list. Not for skiing or anything per se, just always wanted to go. My wife and I took our children (9 & 11 years) on a trip around Japan. I really didn't know what part of Hokkaido to visit... we wanted something relaxing after Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima - and... More

I stayed two nights at Kuramure this past January, and had wished that I've spent a few more nights. The hotel doesn't have many English proficient staff, so reservation was done through e-mail. When I called up the hotel to inquire airport transfer info and other questions, they have always asked me to send e-mail instead, but very fast in... More

While Kuramure's website is sleek, it's not very detailed so I didn't really know what to expect. At 260,000 yen (minimum!) per person, per night, you'd expect a hotel to be pretty luxurious. I'm happy to report, although I expected it to be totally different, that the place didn't disappoint. I didn't pay much attention to its location but on... More

You can tell a hotel is going for the "designer" edge when it doesn't have a sign out the front. Only after several minutes did we realise we had reached our destination. On the inside, almost all of the windows are below waist-level, which is another designer feature that just ends up being annoying. When you first arrive, green tea... More

kuramure didn't look anything like i thought it would. the exterior looks like a factory/warehouse but very modern and sleek. the interior is a combination of japanese and industrial minimalist. i believe all the guest rooms are 2-levels with a living area, tatami room and separate western bedroom. we opted to sleep in the tatami room. the bathroom tub can...
