I stayed at Kuramure a few weeks ago with my mother. I was expecting it to be good for A$500/night and based on the limited reviews I had read. But we arrived and were just godsmacked at how lovely it was. Gorgeous setting wedged into a mountain over a stream, incredible architecture that oriented towards/perfectly framed the views, elegant modernist... More

We spent a night here after taking a day trip in Otaru, the experience at Kuramure was nothing short of amazing. We reached the hotel at around 4pm via a pickup from a JR station. We were greeted by the friendly staffs, who ushered us into the reception area. I was hoping to take a walk to enjoy the industrial... More

This is our last hotel for our 11days of summer trip in Hokkaido. The hotel is very close to Otaru, just 15 minutes drive. We stayed for 3 nights deluxe room on the second floor, the room is huge with a separate living area and 2 bedrooms, one with 2 western beds and the other smaller room is futon. Great... More

Pros: stylish interior, excellent food, warm service, peaceful vibe, free drinks, audio room with vinyl. Cons: service at restaurant can be a bit more attentive and detail-oriented; garden can use more maintenance. Stayed for 1 night in May. In short this is a very well-designed hotel with warm service and great amenities. It has a thoughtful layout and interior, a... More

I have visited Japan and Onsen several times, but this hotel(Onsen) is my best hotel ever. The overall atmospere of this place is very quiet and relaxing. Room condition was perfect including bedding. It has a little bit small but nice public bath.(Luckily, I could use it alone..) The kaiseki cuisine was also good. All inclusive bar was also very... Stayed for 1 night in late December. Extremely satisfied with the stay. Room is spacious and cosy with Japanese decor. Free in room mini bar is good with many cans of Sapporo beer and 2 cans of sparkling wine. Loved the onsen. And the food! The kaseiki dinner is delicious and there are so many courses. Service in this hotel... More

Quite an excellent mixture of authentic Japanese "onsen" - hotspring experience and improved / modern services, including all inclusive beverage offer and "bed" room. It has quite a nice public bath which has a nice view of the yard/river/hill. Private bath is small in the room which I didn't use. Foods are served in a dedicated dinig room where service... More

I read different reviews on this place but decided to give it a try. Otaru is a 30mins+ train ride from Sapporo and it is very coastal and more romantic place of hokkaido. This is the second time i am here so did not really do much tourist thing but just find a nice onsen place to relax. Kuramure, i... More

So where do I begin.. We had the garden view room that looked out to Japanese Garden. There is a natural stream running behind the garden therefore when you open the window, you will hear such a serene sound of water. OK, so the rooms may be claustophobic as the windows are only half way up the ceiling, and the... More
