This is a little hotel just opposite the canal. In general the room was clean, but it was the typical Japanese hotel room size (I stayed in a single room). But my friends had the twin room which they were happy with the size. The staff here were extremely helpful, always around and very attentive. There is a nice little... More

If I ever travel to Otaru again, I will stay at this place again. 1) Location location location It is conveniently located, cross the street from the canal, the port, shops and many restaurants. You can easily walk to the sushi street from here, as well as a restaurant corner featuring Hokkaido food. 2) Nice onsen When booking Furukawa, I... More

I had to remove one point from an otherwise perfect score of this place because it was rather inconvenient without wifi in the room - especially when you need to check the weather and plan for the next day. Having said that, all else was above expectations. We couldn't understand why this hotel would demand such high ratings, even for... More

The hotel is about 15 min walk from the train station, the onsen is decent size.the lounge is very cosy. The breakfast is not great in the hotel I stayed in japan, but can see the canal from the resturant.

Loved the ambience and the traditional elements inside and outside the property. During special festivals such as children's day, unique decor is hanged outside. When you walk into the hotel, you will be immediately greeted by friendly staff. If it happens to rain, the staff will keep your umbrella for you, and you have the option to use their rental... we were very pleased with this hotel for our two nights in Otaru. the staff is very friendly although they speak surprisingly little English. their was a chinese concierge so we were able to get most of our info from her. there is a tea room off the main lobby with a fireplace, classical music playing, massage chair and wifi.... I was so impressed at my last at this ryokan stay one year ago, that I had to made another stay this February. There were some trivial changes after my last visit. The room looked brighter, I think they might have changed the room wallpapers. Cell phone chargers was available in room. English dinner menu was available. There were a... More

Room B at 8F is clean and cozy, every settings are perfect. View of Otaru canal in winter is beautiful. The massage chair in room is nice after a skiing trip. Staff are excellent. Cleaniness of room is impressive.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2014

Stayed here over December for 2 nights and the service here was really good - it's typical japanese service, friendly and very accomodative (despite my 2 year old son shattering one of their christmas decorations). Breakfast was good as well, and while there's not much frills, the location in front of the canal is really unbeatable. There IS wi-fi in... More

Hotel has no laundry service but two self-service laundry machines tucked away through the front stairs to 2nd floor by the spa (soap provided, 500 yen a load, staff very stern about getting the key back). There is no wi-fi in rooms, and wasn't working in the 1st floor lounge, however was available from the 2nd floor lounge. Cozy, quaint,... More
