Marukoma was our first accomodation on our very first trip to Japan. Writing we experienced a culture shock is an understatement, but it was a very pleasant culture shock. International travellers coming here with an open mind will certainly thouroughly enjoy their stay and probably never forget it. We booked through Japanican.com, since the website is only in Japanese and... More

Stayed here for one night during the winter. Staff and service were great and wonderful. The location is remote so there is nothing to do at night. Dinner was served in your Japanese-style room. Breakfast buffet was served in the restaurant. There are two outdoor onsen/baths overlooking the lake and one indoor for each gender separately. There is free Wi-fi... More

We have been japan many times and second time to hokkaido. Experienced Japanese onsen very often, but this is the first time we felt like a real onsen -their outside onsen pool surrounding by feet high snow, facing lake and mountains, steam rising on the surface of water, snow dancing in the air and blessing and resting into your hair.... Early July 2014 We arrived earlier than planned as I was caught in less than good shape suddenly. We had lunch at the restaurant. We were shown to our room earlier than would be, such a pleasant surprise n a great comfort to me. We rested until our chosen private onsen room time. Such a refreshing moment to me/us. Ikura-uni... This was another traditional resort which provided Onsen and Japanese style rooms. The view from our room was really nice as the lake was just outside. It was also really cool having Onsen outside while enjoying the beautiful scenery. During dinner, we were also served their traditional meal whereby there were many different courses in small portions. I couldn't understand... More

We arrived at the Marukorma Onsen Ryokan after a long trip on a cold and icy evening to a warm and friendly welcome. We were shown to our room, which was in the traditional Japanese style and very charming. The resort is in a remote location on the shore of a volcanic crater lake, it has some spectacular views, which... More

This Onsen has one of the best locations and views you can get. The onsen is large and the one inside is very hot! The outdoor one has an incredible view. Onsen is open from 4am to 11pm so plenty of time to get in a few sessions. The rooms are traditional Japanese style and was a great cultural experience.... More

Initially, we were deciding between The Tsuruga Resort and this one as we had a great experience staying at other Tsuruga's resorts in Hokkaido at our last trip. However, in the end, we were attracted by the secret onsens available at Marukoma Onsen Ryokan. This ryokan is located at an exclusive area, overlooking the amazing Lake Shikotsu. We had our... The hotel/ ryokan is located on a hill, the onsen over looking the lake. Beautiful amazing view. Try to ask for a room overlooking the lake. My room face the car park which can be a little noisy when visitor get in/out of their car. Room is small but comfortable. Sleep on the floor tatami style. Room has a sink... More
