Maruloma Onsen Ryokan is located on the north of Lake Shikotsu, away from town and amenities. Our package includes kaiseki dinner and buffet breakfast. This is an old traditional ryokan. Rooms were clean and well kept. We were initially concerned that the rooms are not air-conditioned as it's summer and the weather can be hot. While we have views of... More

Stayed for one night. Onsen was very good and spacious. Most impressive was the helpfulness of the front desk manager who help me with my next hotel booking as I couldn't speak japanese. Overall, okay room ( no AC but fan provided and smells of smoke - level 2 rooms), okay food, awesome onsen, outstanding front desk manager.

Sadly everything about this Onsen just didn't live up. The site we ordered through (Rakuten Travel) stated that there was a free shuttle bus too and from the Onsen, sadly this was not the case once we called up to book it and it was 500 yen each person each way. Once we got there and were shown to our... More

A peaceful and lovely resort where to regenerate in lovely termal baths indoor and outdoor at a natural hot spring on the lake. Food is excellent with dinner served in the Ryokan room following the japanise tradition. Only bias could the faible and incostant wi-fi (in the lobby only) while the distance from the village and staff speaking a poor... More

Marukoma was our first accomodation on our very first trip to Japan. Writing we experienced a culture shock is an understatement, but it was a very pleasant culture shock. International travellers coming here with an open mind will certainly thouroughly enjoy their stay and probably never forget it. We booked through Japanican.com, since the website is only in Japanese and... More

We have been japan many times and second time to hokkaido. Experienced Japanese onsen very often, but this is the first time we felt like a real onsen -their outside onsen pool surrounding by feet high snow, facing lake and mountains, steam rising on the surface of water, snow dancing in the air and blessing and resting into your hair.... Early July 2014 We arrived earlier than planned as I was caught in less than good shape suddenly. We had lunch at the restaurant. We were shown to our room earlier than would be, such a pleasant surprise n a great comfort to me. We rested until our chosen private onsen room time. Such a refreshing moment to me/us. Ikura-uni... This was another traditional resort which provided Onsen and Japanese style rooms. The view from our room was really nice as the lake was just outside. It was also really cool having Onsen outside while enjoying the beautiful scenery. During dinner, we were also served their traditional meal whereby there were many different courses in small portions. I couldn't understand... More

We arrived at the Marukorma Onsen Ryokan after a long trip on a cold and icy evening to a warm and friendly welcome. We were shown to our room, which was in the traditional Japanese style and very charming. The resort is in a remote location on the shore of a volcanic crater lake, it has some spectacular views, which... More
