The Toyoko Inn in Kurashiki is in a great location just up the main street from the train station, and an easy/short walk to the Bikan Chiku area which is beautiful and full of great shops and dining choices. This is a "no frills" hotel, but my room was clean and quiet, and breakfast (Japanese only - very good) was... More

There is a sign that asks patrons to be patient as the hotel is new and staff are inexperienced. The lines at reception get quite long as the hotel appears popular and crowded. Breakfast selection was mediocre and everyone crowds into the small reception area to eat. For such a large hotel with so many floors, 1 elevator is not... More

I stayed here because it was cheap and close to the area I needed to be. Its on the main road and close to the station. It was an average Japanese business hotel and about the same as any other Toyoko in. I am actually not a big fan of the Toyoko inn brand, I find them to be old,... More

Kurashiki is a small but beautiful town, and this hotel was perfectly located near the station and within walking distance of all tourist attractions. The rooms are small but neat and tidy, and the service was friendly. The simple, free breakfast is a great way to start the day. Excellent value!

Just checked out--- and wish I'd stayed! It's 5 minutes from the station and 5 minutes from the most romantic area in all of Japan. Toyoko Inn Kurashiki is spotless, easy to find, single female friendly and has a simple healthy Japanese breakfast included in the room charge. There are three caveats: Can be noisy outside the hotel, as it's... More

Before talking about the hotel, I must recommend spending a day in Kurashiki. We visited Tokyo, Nikko, Kyoto, Osaka, Okayama, Kobe, Hiroshima, Miyajima - Kurashiki was a refreshing break from endless gardens, temples and castles (repeat). Kurashiki is very beautiful - once you get into the old town with the canals you feel like you've been transported back into the... More
