If you are on the way to Hiroshima or Kyoto, this location is a nice place to visit. Really Good museums and a nice quarter are a must. Good for a calm day visit, easy to arrive wih the JR from Okayama.

I have stayed in quite a few ryokans and so far this was by far one of the best ones I have stayed in. We went there with a couple of friends who had never been in Japan and as their first ryokan experience they were blown away! It is located in the epicentre of the old town. We had... More

What an amazing place to stay! An absolute top quality first class experience, Japanese style luxury accomadation at its best! A spacious spotless suite, and the 10 course dinner, with an english translation made this the best of our ryokan stays. Its position by the side of the old canal in Kurashiki, amidst a range of traditional buildings made for... More

It was drizzling when we alighted after our short taxi ride (¥700) from the train station. We were ahead of schedule and hesitated at the entrance of Ryokan Kurashiki, unsure if we were at the right address; one of the staff must have heard us and promptly appeared. He took charge of our bags, loaned us two umbrellas and presented... More

In some guide books, the highest rating for an establishment is "worth a journey". Ryokan Kurashiki is worth a journey. This is not to say that the lovely, historic town of Kurashiki and it's world-class art museum aren't worth visiting too. But in my opinion, this lovely Ryokan would be worth seeking out even without them. The rooms are huge... More

We were on a 3 week vacation of Japan, and stayed here one night on our way from Hiroshima to Osaka. Arriving at the train station, simply go to the lower level and the cabs will be right there. A cab fare to the Ryokan is about $12.00US. You can walk, but I would say it would be at least... More

We only had one night at Ryokan Kurashiki and how I wished we could stay longer! It happened to be a Japanese long weekend when we visited so the Bikan district of Kurashiki was bustling. The ryokan was right in the central area of the canal so there were a lot of commotion, but once we walked inside of the... More

We have travelled to Japan on many occasion but have never stayed at a Ryokan. Following a recommendation from a close friend we decided to spend 3 nights at Ryokan Kurashiki. From the moment we arrived your every need is attended to. The staff all wear traditional dress and are constantly looking after your needs. The fist night we dined... More

We travelled to Kurashiki for two nights during March with high expectations of a special experience. I had researched a little and the cost was substantial so we hoped for the best. What we got left us feeling as though we had made a new friend, Ritsuko, got great value for money and had experienced a destination like nothing we... More

We couldn´t afford to stay the night here, but we decided to splurge on the banquet lunch in a private room. It was very much worth it! First of all, I was able to easily correspond by email with the staff in order to make a reservation (required). When we arrived, our server for the meal was waiting in the... More
