The glowing reviews are all correct. We decided to go here after a day at Kamakura, and though it's not all that close really, it was a nice 'halfway' point between Tokyo and Kyoto. The accom was incredibly good for the price if you're after a traditional experience, and the onsens (private and public) are ok too. Ito is a... More

What a fantastic place. We stayed in more expensive Ryokans during our trip and the only difference between those and K's house was that they provided breakfast. This place was certainly comfortable, spacious and had a nice array of public baths (and private) available for use. A short walk from Orange beach (although it's a bit dirty!), short walk to... This is a 100 year old hot spring hotel, converted recently into a hostel (the story I heard was that the old owner of the traditional hotel retired and Ito city, facing the prospect of knocking this building down, renovated it at a huge cost and is now being run as a hostel). There are dorm rooms but we opted... More

This is a hostel in a ryokan building. For people on a budget wanting to try an onsen experience, and can forego the frills, it's a great choice. There are no meals served in the room (no meals served, period), and you have to make your own futon, but you get to stay in a Japanese style room and try... More

Wonderful stay and amazing experience. The place was very historically charming and full of characters. It's thebext hostel experience during the trip ..very clean , comfortable and located in the key location ( like lived in the historical attraction ).So it's perfect and flawless. The staffs were kind, polite and nice. The key thing is provided onsen ..it's such a... More

"K's house Ito Onsen" is an amazing place to experience some traditional Japanese travel culture. Private rooms start at 3900 yen if you're alone, but dip down sharply if you're getting a room with friends (to as little as 2950 per person). Travelling alone, I found it more economical to opt for a futon in a dormitory room, also at... More

I stayed in 4 K's house properties during my stay in Japan, they are all very good but this place is on another level. Like many backpackers in Japan I wanted to stay in an authentic ryokan but they are very expensive if you are on your own, at around 150 pounds and up per night. This place proved to... More

This hostel is very good value for Japan. The building is atmospheric and the rooms are nice. The shared facilities are excellent (especially the lounge by the river downstairs) and we loved the onsen. The shared toilet on our floor, however, though appeared clean, did have an underlying, constant smell of urine, to the point where I went to the... More

This is the best choice for a ryokan on a budget. I was extremely impressed by this hostel and want to go back, like, right now. 1. Hundred year old building in a beautiful seaside town? Check. I've stayed at a similar building in Hakone and paid almost five times for myself, ten if you count my sister. I cannot... More

The building is beautiful, the rates are ridiculously inexpensive, the onsens are lovely, the staff all speak English, and it's a ten minute walk from the station. Most of the rooms have balconies over the river, they have AC and fridges in the room. There is also a lot of english language material explaining how to use the onsen, wrap... More
