We stayed back in May and found the service excellent, with lovely spacious rooms in a charming early 20th century onsen. In fact our room was more of a suite with hot spring water available in the bathroom as well as the 2 full onsens. We would certainly recomend a stay and would be happy to return.

We stayed in 4 such Ryokans during our month-long stay in Japan. This one is the real deal! It is by far the most authentic, with the hot springs coming off the hill right into the onsen baths. You will find it is definitely an older hotel, dating back 5 generations of family ownership, again, which is part of the... More

We only stayed for little more than a week in Japan, but Yokikan ryokan was really worth the short (train) detour. Perfect relaxation spot between Tokyo and Kyoto: very friendly, perfect service (english spoken!), beautiful rooms (we had a seaview terrace). And of course relaxing in the open air hot spring, watching the stars.... In the room: amazing to experience... More

This was a very nice Ryokan experience. It could be characterized by saying this is the yin to the yen that I've written about in another review of a Ryokan in Ito. The desk staff are very happy to speak English and the welcome was excellent. We even had our taxi fare from the station refuneded, but I don't remember... More

We really enjoyed our stay. The rotenburo (outdoor onsen) on the roof top overlooking the town was just gorgeous especially with the olde style, quirky cable car to get there. The food was top notch and very traditional with so many different bits and pieces to try. Beds were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Taxi fare... More

My wife and I had a wonderful time in this hotel, with a delightful yet surprising breakfast (very japonese, some westerners might find it challenging since it's mainly seafood) The staff was very friendly with the establishment manager helping us with all specific details regarding the hotel while arriving, and giving us a lift back to the JR train station... We enjoyed the onsens there, esp the outdoor onsen with good view. More, the staff offered detailed orientation and introduction to guests. The room is very spacious and we felt comfortable. But we could not access wifi in the room. Though it takes around 10-15 minutes walking from station, it is not difficult to locate the hotel. The staff also... More

We enjoyed a single night at Yokikan and felt very welcome and taken care of. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The hotel is quirky but clean and with a good atmosphere. It is a little old in some area but nothing that hinders the comfort of the stay. We got dinner and breakfast which was quite nice albeit... More

We stayed two nights in late December 2013. We were a little nervous about whether we'd have difficulty understanding the customs involved in staying at a traditional ryokan, but the staff were super helpful and made it easy and fun. The food was excellent, and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area as well.
