We decided to stop in Atami on our way from tokyo to kyoto. The weather was bad, raining. However I dont think that even on a nice day, Sunny the city can offer any attraction. The sea view front is totally blocked by ugly buildings. About the Ryokan: Very nice people. We were almost alone in this Hotel. The traditional... More

The #1 thing I wanted to experience during my trip to Japan was an onsen. Since my husband has tattoos, and since I wanted to share the onsen experience with him, the first thing I booked for our trip was one night in an onsen town with a private open-air bath at Furuya Ryokan. I was really looking forward to... More

Laze around on traditional tatami mats wearing provided yukatas and tabi socks. Futons rolled out at night for you. Amazing public outdoor onsen (no photos obviously) and our room had it's own private onsen. Walking distance from atami station. Loved it.

Me and a friend stayed there on Christmas Eve 2013 - since it was the low season for travelling in Japan. The ryokan is a bit of a walk from the station, and since Atami's landscape is mostly hills, you will be travelling up and down the roads. Therefore, it is not recommended to bring your huge suitcase, unless you... More

I stayed here in July of 2013. This is a charming, quaint, very authentic ryokan in a little seaside town. We took the shinkansen from Tokyo to Atami station, about 0.5 miles from the hotel, which certainly makes it walkable. It's a little hilly, so it may be difficult if you have a lot of baggage or young children, but... More

This was the most amazing hotel experience ever for me. Everything was simply perfect. On arrival we were served by our host fresh matcha green tea in our suite. The suite was extremely spacious with 4 separate rooms as well as a private Onsen bath that leads out to a zen garden. Everything in the room seemed new and sparkling... More

I stayed here in the summerseason of 2008 with my parents, another family with young children and 1 Dutch women. It had been noted that I am Japanese and I travelled to several places in Japan with 'onsen'= hot spring water. This ryokan provides you an athentic Japanese atmosphere with huge rooms with private baths, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor,... More
