Rooms are nice and the bathroom is very clean. The building has nice wood floor and stairs. The common area is not much used. Noise from frequent outside traffic can be non negligible for the rooms in the front.

This little ryokan is a beautiful place to stay in Matsumoto. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The ryokan was very quiet and we had a great night sleep. We enjoyed the Japanese bath. The location is great, an easy walk from the station and close to the older parts of town.

We had a great stay here and even came back after travelling around. Very friendly host (which even followed us to the train station to bring us sth we forgot), beautiful house, all the amenities you can imagine in a great location. Only a breakfast and less noise (from the street) would make it to an unforgetable experience.

Great location in walking distance of the train station and sights. The building is beautiful and the owner very welcoming. Shared bathrooms, but can be used privately (and lockable). A good price as well.

Lovely staff, big rooms, clean... Good location in one of the main streets of Matsumoto. Everything was perfect. They don't have meals but it's full of restaurants close there. Matsumoto castle it's just 10 minutes on foot from the Ryokan, and 10 more of the main railway station.

Stayed for 1 night whilst visiting Matsumoto. The owner was very helpful with showing us around the town and ordering us a taxi at 6am with her broken English. The room was beautiful, traditional and authentic. Really enjoyed our stay here, can't recommend enough.

A beautiful building, great location, nice interior with a homey feel, a very friendly owner and comfortable baths. That sums it all up in a nutshell, and combined with a decent price this is the place to stay in wonderful Marsumoto, especially if you're not on an unlimited budget.

Nunoya is the most beautiful ryokan I have visted so far. Nice old house, fantastic interiors (especially the floors, but also spacious, well-lit rooms with old objects) and a very calm and quiet atmosphere make this an excellent choice. Compared to our other ryokans, this was also very cheap (4500 per person instead of the rather common 8-9000). The owner... More

Very nice traditional wooden house located in the heart of Matsumoto. The toilet and shower room are in the lower floor of the building while guest rooms are located on the second and third floor. Our room was big (by Japanese and European standards) and nicely decorated. We enjoyed Nunoya but comparing it to similar accommodations in Japan, we found... More

At ¥4,500 per person per night, this is an affordable option on a traditional street adjacent to many craft shops. The owner is a very warm, friendly woman who went out of our way to help us. When we wanted to hire the locally available free bicycles, she walked us down to the local centre (which we had looked for... More
