My husband and I only stayed for 1 night but we were glad we had the opportunity! We called from the train station and were promptly picked up by the owner. We had a large double room with a futon and soft, warm bedding as it was mid October and getting colder outside. The room has it's own heat and... More

From booking this accommodation the owners were so helpful. Very clear instructions from FREE pick up from the train station. So helpful & friendly. Happy to assist in any way they could. Lovely traditional ryokan rooms. Traditional Japanese baths but private facilities if need or can book bath for private use. Offered use of bicycles, which is a great way... More

Stayed here for the first night of my Japanese trip. Had landed early in the morning and then travelled from Tokyo to Matsumoto. Got the tourist information people at the station to call through and let them know we had arrived. They came out to pick us up (free of charge) which was brilliant as we were exhausted. Check-in was... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The futons were exceptionally comfortable. The best part was the family that managed this place. They really went out of their way to drop us off in town and even pick us up which made up for the fact that it's not conveniently located. Very reasonable rates... More

Seifo So is a bit out of town but the free bikes sort that with ease. The staff are so eager to help and speak such good English that everything you need just gets done. Absolutely recommended if you want help with your holiday

Nice and quiet location away from the city centre. My wife and I love sitting by the river and watching the world go by in the evenings. We can't be happier with the hospitality at the family run place. Its clean, quiet and their service is excellent. Highly recommended. If you can cycle, its a bonus, as they loan out... More

Seifuso is a lovely family-run ryokan tucked at the feet of the Japanese Alps. Breakfast, which we have just finished, was delicious. For dietary reasons, we opted for the western style, and the kind folks at Seifuso adapted it for my vegetarian daughter's needs. Free bikes, cute hand-drawn maps and a wealth of info, this is the best place in... More

The Ryokan Seifuso was our first stop in a visit to Japan that included several ryokan and hotels. The proprietress was knowledgable and friendly, but went far beyond this. She suggested we visit Matsumoto Castle during the cherry blossom festival and enjoy the tea ceremony. She then instructed us on how to receive traditional tea. This inn follows the Japanese... More

Really friendly and clean. Located overlooking the river in a quiet part of town but close enough to walk to the centre for all the tourist sighs. Friendly and helpfull staff. I can recommend the room with a view overlooking the river.

We stayed here for one night, breaking our journey between Takayama and Kawaguchiko. We arrived late one night exhausted and left in the morning, but the place was really friendly and made a positive impression despite the fatigue. In fact the lady at the front desk was so nice that when it transpired she had forgotten to immediately return my... More
