Excellent Japanese style breakfast. The tea ceremony is worth doing, especially if you haven't learned before. Everyone has been very friendly and provided a good idea of things to do in the city and directions. They also provide bikes which you may use for free which is quite useful.

Stayed here in January 2015 with my husband on the way to ski in Hakuba. We arrived quite late after a few delays on the trains occasioned by a serious accident that saw the connection from Nagano totally cancelled. That was a test of ingenuity to get to Matsumoto for sure, but that's a story for another day. Despite late... More

Had a one night stay at this traditional ryokan in late December 2014. Easy access to the sights in town. Bus ride in is 240 yen, taxi fare is 1700 yen approx. The family that runs the place are friendly and very helpful. the room is spacious and clean, breakfast is nice, toilet / shower area is spotlessly clean. A... More

You've found the place to stay in Matsumoto. We couldn't have asked for a more welcoming reception, a more comfortable room, a better Japanese breakfast or nicer and more helpful hosts. We were truly made to feel part of the family, even though we only stayed for one night. The lift from the train station was very much appreciated and... More

Can't fault this place - the family running it are lovely and helpful. Room was big and bright with a view of the river, comfortable futons and an area to sit. Japanese breakfast was a feast, one of the best we had in four weeks. It is quite a way from the centre but we enjoyed the walk and they... More

This a traditional place that's ok with you not understanding parts of the ryokan experience. The family that run the place are so lovely, they really want you to enjoy their city and prefecture. They have their own little maps to help you find the hidden gems of Matsumoto. The futons are very comfy, the public bath downstairs is amazing,... More

We arrived early and was quickly allowed to check in because the rooms were ready. The lady host was very helpful in recommending places to go and how to get there as we were on a self drive holiday. The rooms were clean and the bath convenient. Love the Japanese breakfast. What stands out is the friendliness of the host.... More

My husband and I only stayed for 1 night but we were glad we had the opportunity! We called from the train station and were promptly picked up by the owner. We had a large double room with a futon and soft, warm bedding as it was mid October and getting colder outside. The room has it's own heat and... More

From booking this accommodation the owners were so helpful. Very clear instructions from FREE pick up from the train station. So helpful & friendly. Happy to assist in any way they could. Lovely traditional ryokan rooms. Traditional Japanese baths but private facilities if need or can book bath for private use. Offered use of bicycles, which is a great way... More

Stayed here for the first night of my Japanese trip. Had landed early in the morning and then travelled from Tokyo to Matsumoto. Got the tourist information people at the station to call through and let them know we had arrived. They came out to pick us up (free of charge) which was brilliant as we were exhausted. Check-in was... More
