I really couldn't see how they justify the price--there is no AC, the bathroom was in the shower room (quite rare in Japan), and besides a restaurant and a small library, there are no extra services they offer. This is really just a place for the older folks in Japan who just want to stay at the Imperial Hotel. I... More

We stayed at the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel during our Honeymoon in Japan. We wanted to hike in the so called "Japanese Alps" for a couple days during our stay, so we stayed in Kamikochi. This hotel is lovely and it is clearly maintained at the highest level. There are many food options at the hotel as well. The price is... More

This grand lodge is wonderful.  The location being a huge part of it... right in the middle of the National reserve, offering spectacular views and starting points for hikes.   The service lives up to the "Imperial" standard;  excellent, proactive, helpful and knowledgable.  The staff couldnt have done more.  We had a balcony room with wonderful views of the hillside,... This hotel was nice. It had the feel of a small Swiss mountain hotel complete with European cuisine and a massive fireplace. The staff was super polite and attentive and spoke conversational English. That said there were a number of downsides. The place was expensive and while some of the cost was warranted (Kamikochi is expensive and remote after all)... More

This is a very luxurious high class hotel with a long history in perfect shape and a very cosy atmosphere with its chalet style. We spent three very nice days there during our two-week roundtrip through Japan in October 2014 and we felt comfortable and well taken care of. However, at 310 USD per room and night, not including breakfast... More

I stayed on Aug,11-13,2014. This hotel is the best in Kamikochi. All the facilities are well maintained and makes us relax. The staff at the restaurant "Alpine Rose" are nice.On the other hand, Loung cafe "Grindelwald" they did not serve well. It looks they are not trained well. Aug,12th the restaurant was full in the morning so we were waiting... More

This hotel is located in sanctual area of national park. To get the hotel, you have to get on taxi or bus for one hour from nearest train station. You can't use your car. Because there is a gate that rock out regular cars, only taxi and hybrid bus can pass through the gate. And at 8 pm, the gate... More

Right in the heart of the Kamikochi Park. Great walking paths and trails. Breathless area. After a few days in Japan this hotel was an absolute blessing. Very good food, friendly bar, darts, king size bed all welcome. Breakfast was exceptional.

Tradition and history were felt good and   congenial in high quality service, the appearance in which a characteristic red roof shows up on the clearly blue sky of the midsummer of Kamikochi looks beautiful, and the interior with which care was prudent. I have enjoyed fully the mountains resort in character with Japan where a hotel and Nature harmonized well. The location of a... More
