Generally hotels in Japan are good and the personal is attentive and superpolite. Here its more tha that . Hot soup in the evening, coffee in the afternoon are great things to remember your stay here. But i'll remember their public baths. High, on the last floor under the dark sky it was smething to remember. And small touches again... More

Lovely hotel and in the heart of Matsumoto. This place doesn't have a lot of personality compared to a ryokan. But what it lacks in personality, it more than makes up for with their extremely clean premises (an onsen!), delicious breakfast buffet, free ramen and helpful staff (they gave us a map of all the best places to eat at... The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from Matsumoto JR station, and well located for access to shops, bars and restaurants. Staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is very good and the room was nice and clean - although the decor was a little worn and souless in design. The rooftop Onsen is very well-maintained, and consists... More

A few minutes flat walk from the station, easy flat walk to Castle. Very Japanese business hotel. We were the only foreigners staying at the hotel, staff let us check in early, a first for our trip to Japan. We booked twin rooms after reading they were bigger than doubles, glad we did. Rooms are small but included everything we... More

Stayed here one night en route to Hirayu Onsen/Takayama. Room adequate, big enough for our needs, but this hotel really comes into its own with the friendly and helpful staff and the nice things it offers - free coffee and tea after 3pm, free noodles after 9.30pm and an incredible selection at breakfast, all included in the price of the... The room in this hotel was small but often staying in a hotel is about the little things like: -great location and launching pad to local area -an English map of the area with suggested places to eat and drink (cocktail bar and soba noodles ) -Attentive helpful staff -free washing machine

Dormy Inn Matsumoto is conveniently situated 5 mins away from the train station. We stayed 2 nights there and used Matsumoto as a base to the Tateyama Kurobe alpine route. We got a room on a non-smoking floor; It is common to have smoking floors and areas in Japanese hotels and restaurants respectively. The room was simple and comfortable and... More

Stayed for 3 nights during the cherry blossom season and it's an ideal base to explore the various attractions such as Kurobe Alpine Route, Kamikochi and Azumino. The hotel is conveniently located near the train and Alpico bus terminal of Matsumoto. In general, the rooms are very well maintained and the size is comfortable for a couple. Service at the... More
