The hotel is very old fashioned. The onsen is very nice but that is it. Dinner was below average but the breakfast buffet was nice. The staff is very forthcoming and service minded, albeit in an eccentric way. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the bus station. It has a shuttle service to the hotel but not back... More

We had a long stay in Kamikochi at the end of rainy season, we were lucky with the weather and we for sure enjoyed the fantastic nature in the area. We had booked the most expensive room, a corner room facing the river and it was money well spend. We got a royal treatment from the staff with superb in... More

Kamikochi is such a special place - this was the favourite stop on our whole trip. This hotel is perfectly located on the river - far enough away from the crowds to allow you to enjoy the fantastic scenery (and meet the monkeys) but walking distance from the trails, the bridge and the bus station. The hotel itself is functional,... More

We recently stayed at the Onsen Hotel in Kamikochi. It is a very lovely property and the staffs are also very helpful and polite. We had a river facing Japanese style room and it was fabulous. The room size is very good and there was sufficient space to keep our 2 bags and 2 backpacks. There is a separate sitting... More

We just spent 3 nights at the Onsen Hotel, and had a brilliant time. We took the corner room which mainly faces the river. The room is the biggest that they have, I think, and is a good size with plenty of space. The onsens are excellent, with indoor and outdoor baths, but I thought that the standout was the... More

We booked one night here as part of our honeymoon in Japan and we loved this little kitsch place! From the moment that we walked we felt welcome, we were the only non-japanese guests (they have slates with your names on outside when you arrive which is nice) but they really made us feel at home. Our room was not... More

Our rooms were super, with a lovely view of the river and mountains, though the 6am hikers gathering under our window were a bit noisy! The real highlight for me were the baths, especially the open air ones, with rock pools, individual wooden tubs and some fetching coolie hats to wear when it started raining. Great to relax in after... More
