We stayed here for two nights over the New Year period. We have stayed in ryokans before but this was our first time where we had to share amenities. The shared amenities were no problem as we never saw anyone else in the onsen nor did you have to wait for the toilet. Our family of four (2A + 2C)... More

Well located inn - does not claim to be a ryokan. We travelled in early January, with outside temperatures falling to -8C at night. Traditional Minshuku rooms are standard - tatami mats and futons with free wifi. These rooms do not have en-suite facilites, and one uses the clean common toilets and baths. The biggest issue for us was the... More

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station. Everything is walking distance with a lot of restaurants closed by. Even though it costed a lot more to have private bath room, we would like to have our privacy. The only problem we have is our room is on the 2nd floor next to lady room. We had 2 big... More

Staying in a ryokan takes some getting used to, as my partner found. Shared shower and bath, making up your own bed, early dinners.... Everything that makes it special and different to a 'typical' hotel. It is a great location to enjoy the festival from as you can walk into town within 10 mins but feel like you are so... More

This was my first stay at a ryokan. It was very special. We had what I think was a great room. The price was fantastic and the location could not be beat - easy to walk to from the train/bus station. The room had its own air conditioning/heating unit, which was great given that some heating was needed while we... More

We stayed one night in this ryokan and should probably have spent another night in Takayama: this is a great place ! Everything was nice about this ryokan: it's cheap, clean, nicely decorated, the breakfast was good, the hosts were nice and helpful. One of the place we liked most !

This ryokan was fine for our 2 day stay in Takayama. It is a 5 minute, easy walk from the station. When you arrive, you can pick up a map from the Tourist Information Centre right opposite the station and ask them where the ryokan is. I know I am rating it at 3 stars, but I believe tripadvisor doesnt... More

I loved the place, the woman also very warm and sweet. It was my first ryokan and it was a great experience. Great location, very good price, clean, lovely onsen. Definitley worth it! If you go to Takayama choose this one!

A great spot to adventure from; easy walk from the station and around the main town area and super fun and easy to make the most of the free bikes available. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating, our room was warm and cozy- tho a tad noisy with the heating system for the fabulous Onsen right outside- a catch... More

We loved our stay in this family run guest house and in Takayama. We stayed two two nights during the Matsuri Festival in October, so there was a great vibe around town and lots of events to enjoy. Aside from this, it is just a beautiful little town. The guest house had free bikes which we made good use of... More
