This is an excellent hotel, but there are a few drawbacks, such as no room service, the hotel controls the temperature of heating or air conditioning (no individual room controls), and LOTS of tour buses. The breakfast buffet items are a little watered down, no doubt to control costs for the multitudes of tour buses. But other than that, it... More

We Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel is located ~8 minutes drive from city centre or using the hotel free shuttle to the rail station (rubs frequently). Hotel is old, but grand and has AMA, ING onsen (separate for men/women) with a view. Breakfast is of good standard and nice spread, both for Asians and Westerners. Wi-Fi free, computer in... More

I was on a group tour and stayed at this hotel for a night. The hotel is located at the top of the hill, so it would be inconvenient to go to the town though there is an hourly shuttle bus. This hotel seems to caters mostly to domestic tourists so it may be hard to communicate if you only... More

It is the great hotel outside of downtown Takayama. Situate on the hill overlook the whole town is a plus site. You will have a magnificent view of the whole town and on the clear day you can see the Japan Alps as the background. Really breathtaking view. Rooms itself is huge and nicely decorated. big bath room and comfortable... More

Stayed her for 2 nights and enjoyed the experience. Being a resort it has slightly different flavour to a hotel. The room was large, clean and well appointed, The view was splendid. Breakfast is a very large affair, there are two huge dining rooms, the food was very good. If you are not driving, the hotel runs a regular shuttle... More

One's initial impression is mixed - nice location up on a hill but the muzak in the lobby and obvious focus on large tour groups is a little off-putting. However, the rooms are spacious and do have sensational mountain views. For the non-bashful, my wife reported that the spa facilities were excellent with communal onsens (baths) overlooking the mountains. The... More

Our room on the 14th floor, had a fantastic view and was large and very well appointed. Japanese style kimonos were provided to go the onsen and this was a fabulous experience. Luxuriating in steamy hot water whilst looking out to super views. The hotel location was the only drawback, but because of the hotel shuttle it was possible to... More

Hotel is spacious with beautiful Onsen facilities that have a view of the town. Breakfast is great! Good selection of Japanese and western food. Something to note - Hotel is full of European and American tourists. Shuttle bus services to the town are provided, take a taxi from the train station if you are arriving at night!

Nothing about this hotel stands out significantly in my opinion. It's an average, 3-star kind of hotel. The giftshop sells popular souvenirs that are sold everywhere and the restaurants serve typical buffets for breakfast. During our stay, the hotel was fully booked, so it can get kind of noisy but soundproof wasn't too bad. I do want to point out... More

We stayed here for two nights and did enjoy our stay. It is a 10 minute up-hill shuttle bus ride from Takayama Station and this is what gives the hotel such great views but it is not really a walkable distance and there are no paved paths to walk on. There is only one shuttle bus each hour so planning... More
