We stayed at this hotel as part of Trafalgar tour. Takayama is a lovely town but everything closes very early at night. This hotel has 2 Onsen, and seems well frequented by local patrons. As further inland we were going, I realized how much the hotels became more typical, less Western. And Hida was like this. We had 2 good... More

Located close to the train station and a short walk to all the local attractions, this hotel is comfortable, clean and several restaurants for dining. The rooms are spacious with good quality wifi which is free of charge. While comfortable we found the beds to be very firm but not enough to stop a good nights sleep

Enjoyed the atmosphere of this hotel. Staff were very helpful. I thought language may have been a problem, but even though the english was limited, we were able to communicate regardless. The rooftop onsen and jacuzzi are a great touch, with wonderful views of the surrounding areas. Location to JR station is only a short walk. As a matter of... More

An otherwise average hotel, we had a corner suite on the top floor. The view of the surrounding mountains were terrific and the real bed was a godsend to our aging knees. The rooftop onset and whirlpools were nice touches too. Breakfast was certainly adequate even if the food was cold. The staff was very friendly and tried to be... More

Really enjoyed this hotel. Rooms were very large by Japanese standards and were very comfortable. Was located a short walk from the JR station and not far from the centre of town. Staff were helpful and friendly and there were many eating options within the hotel.

For some, sleeping the Japanese way might be quite fun, but nor for my age! I found sleeping on tatami is very indeed uncomfortable. the room though is very spacious. when the staff came to prepare the bed on the floor, the pillows didn't smell clean at all! so had to over them with my shawl! although some may want... Just a short walk from the JR/Bus Station you can also walk to all the Must See spots in Takayama town easily. Breakfast was a bit of a scrum and we had better "Western Breakfasts" elsewhere but the staff in the "Japanese Inn" within the hotel - next to the shops were very accommodating with special assistance to our "begetarian"... I had a great time staying here. Unlike most tatami hotel in Japan which are very small, the room here is like a tatami suite with a separate sleeping room, a living room, a small separate work area, a nice balcony, separate toilet and bath. One can use one of the two available hotspring baths (onsen) in this hotel. The... More

Strategically positioned near everything. Rail/bus station, dining, Matsuri routes, morning markets, old town and other tourist spots. Everything can be reached in five to ten minutes on foot except the folk village (need to catch a bus for that but very easy to do, the hotel staff will give you directions in English). Staff very customer oriented! Most speak conversational... More
