This is a lovely hotel in a lovely town. Friendly staff with spacious and modern rooms. David98 stated that the towels were small, this is pretty petty as I had no complaints. I did not have any meals in the restaurant as I ate out at the many local restaurants within easy walking distance.

As a loyal Best Western hotel user, I expected a lot about my first stay in Takayama. I was very impressed when we arrived, this hotel was clean, central, and the staff were excellent and polite. Traditional breakfast is a bonus, but a bit sad that didnt see Japanese style curry and the time to 9.30am that a bit short... More

Receptionist had good English , but reception area looked a little sad and Motel like. The theme continued in the reasonably spacious room, with a whiffy bathroom and ( stylish touch here ) soap shampoo and conditioner in a fixed unit on the wall . Towels not good, thin and small. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was poor, but cheap... More

The hotel is within 100m/yds of the bus and train station and taxi rank and within walking distance of most attractions. The massage service is excellent as was the general level of service. The buffet lunch is great. The only drawback is that they wouldn't let me check in early even though I arrived in a snowstorm, but they did... More

Opted for half board for 5 nights with Best Western and that must have been the best decision ever! When I arrived in Takayama city, it was snowing hard and I was so glad I was having dinner in the comfort of the hotel. Check-in was a breeze and staff communicated in English relatively well. Service was impeccable and staff... More

I was not sure about staying at a Best Western, but very impressed when we arrived. Travelling with 2 teenage boys, this hotel was clean, central, and the staff were excellent and polite. Traditional breakfast is a bonus (but must be there before 9.30am). An easy walk to many attractions and very close to the train station. Would stay there... More

Takayama is a really stunning old town with traditional charm and breathtaking scenery. The location of the hotel cannot be faulted and the facilities of the hotel are mainly what one would expect from a Best Western. However we asked to borrow the iron and ironing board. The "ironing board" was a square piece of cloth covered wood, no legs,... More

Was a bit apprehensive at first as we weren't impressed by our stay at the Tokyo branch however it quickly made up for it. It was close to the station. Despite it being a chain it still felt quaint, comfortable and homely. The rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was a bit different (i don't know if it was a... More

Best western is very close to the train station. It's a 7 min walk if you know where you're going. The staff are very friendly. They even help me plan my next pitstop to Kyoto. Making my geisha dressing session appointment for me. The facilities included sauna and jacuzzi, which I personally used and was very satisfactory. The hotel was... More

Very good and clean room. Very good Breakfast, especially the Miso Soup. Very near with Train Station, only 3 minutes walk. Near convinient store. One of the best hotel from all hotels in my trip in Japan. If I visiting Takayama in next trip, I'm sure will stay in this hotel again.
