One of several small hotels clustered a few minutes away from Takayama station and just 10 mins walk to scenic Old Town. We stayed for one night in a standard twin non-smoking room on the 7th floor. The room was small and the twin beds were side by side and wall to wall so the only access was from the foot... More

Takayama is a fairly small town - very walkable. The Best Western is a short walk away from the train and bus station, and from the sights in town. Our room was comfortable, but very musty smelling. I suspect that some of the linens/towels were not dried properly so that was somewhat unpleasant. The included breakfast was excellent. We had... More

After spending 3 nights in Kanazawa, we cross the zebra crossing directly in front of the small and cute, Takayama train station. While in the midst of crossing the road, look on your left and you would see the top of the Best Western Hotel, otherwise, not noticeable from the train station. Upon arrival at 2.10pm, the Receptionist was at... More

In June we stayed for one night at this hotel. It was a nice stay at the hotel. We were upgraded to a twin-room on the top floor. The room was good, however a bit old but very clean. It was also spaceous. In the hotel there was also a Spa with some modern onsen baths (gender separated) It was... More

Arriving by train, you can easily walk to the Best Western. It is a small ,quiet town , worth only a night but definitely worth that. We had low expectations, expecting something basic but clean. However, it actually had a quirkiness which we found endearing and nothing beats looking out the window at surrounding green mountains. For the price, this... More

A good quality for price ratio in a hotel in this bracket and price range. Very handy to the station. Staff went out of their way to be helpful with restaurant tips, and practical advice (e.g. If you are going to visit Shirakawago then skip the Hida Folk Village in Takayama.

Hotel is just a couple minutes walk from the Takayama Train Station, and just about 5-10 minutes walking to the tourist areas (old town, temples, etc). Staff was courteous but their English was not very good. We wanted to exchange money on a Friday. They don't exchange money there and said only banks can change money and all banks are... More

This is a good stock standard hotel. Everything worked including free wifi, beds were comfortable, close to many restaurants. The staff were helpful, but our evening meal had an amateur feel with parts of the meal arriving up to half an hour after the first course. Breakfast buffet was satisfactory, although western style plates would have been welcome, as well... More

We chose the hotel for its location on a side street just one block from the rail and bus station and Visitors' Center. Easy walking distance from the historical center which as charming and quaint as advertised. We were a bit too late for the cherry blossoms in Tokyo and Kyoto, but up here in the mountains they were lovely... More

Main reason we like this place is location. Easily seen from the train as you come in and easy to walk to sights and restaurants. Otherwise is nothing fancy or traditional. Rooms are ok size, free wifi, breakfast buffet alright bedding is high quality and rooms are clean.
