I stayed at the Best Western Takayama with my partner for four nights in May 2015. This is a solid three-star hotel. One of the best features is its location. We arrived by train and it was very easy to find and to walk to - probably less than five minutes in total from exiting the train station. The staff... More

Takayama came as a bit of a culture shock after a stay in Tokyo. We arrived in town to a backdrop of green hills and paddy fields and a cityscape with far fewer tower blocks. The Best Western is just a minute or two from the railway station and one of those blocks. It's clearly popular with coach parties. We... More

I would give this review a four and a half stars if i could. The only thing preventing a five star review is the breakfast. It is very limited and the quality not as high as others in the area. Rooms are wonderful. If you can afford it, definitely upgrade to the superior and the suite is excellent for families.... More

We booked this hotel kinda last minute as there was some screw up in our other hotel booking. Turned out to be good. Hotel location is very good, central to everything. Room is good size and clean. Facilities etc all seems well maintained.

Traveled with 83 year old mother with walking difficulty wasn't easy to get around, but staff was very kind to offer her a wheelchair. The gentleman at the front desk was very sincere and did his best to please all of us. Hotel was steps away from bus terminal and all other sightseeing. Breakfast room was little small but had... We stayed in the Best Western during the April matsuri when the city was full of tourists. It was hard to fault the earnest staff and large, comfortable room, or the location close to the train station. Yes, the wifi was a bit dodgy and prone to downtime. Perhaps it was heavily utilised, unlike the "spa" at the top. Sadly,... More

We were part of a group which the hotel tries to cater for and fails. Nowhere to sit and have a drink and relax after a long day.. The worst thing was the buffet breakfast. Not enough space, tables tucked away in a corner of reception, lucky to get a table. The breakfast was the worst I have had for... More

After experiencing the small rooms in other Japanese hotels, it was a welcome change to check into the Best Western. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was provided in our overnight package which was average - not the largest selection but food was decent. We had the Hida beef special in the restaurant located in the hotel which was... We paid €141 for a double room including breakfast here. The location was great but to be honest this hotel just wasn't worth that price. We stayed on the 7th floor and while the room itself was fine, the wifi was truly awful. When you are travelling around Japan and you shell out for a hotel rather than a hostel,... More
