Stayed for 2 nights. Easy to locate. As you step from the train station, simply turn right and walk towards the tall brown building at the end of the block and you have found it. Shoes are removed before you go past the check inn desk but they couldn't find a pair of size 13 slippers so I had to... More

Sensational breakfast each day. Rooftop onset was great to unwind, either in the public or private rooms. The whole hotel had a nice east meets west vibe; ryokan fused with a hotel. It was more than just a hotel, it was an experience. Highly recommended!

Generally this was a lovely hotel. There are mats on all the floors including the rooms which mean shoes aren't allowed which is fine except they meant the hotel had a very strange smell. We had to sleep with the window open as I found it quite sickening. Alternate floors are smoking and the smell carries slightly which I also... More

I stayed in this hotel back in 2011 and still think it's a great choice for Takayama. It's located 5 min walk from the train station and ten minutes walk to the old town. The hotel has very comfortable rooms. Breakfast in the morning should not be missed. It's buffet style and the food is excellent. There is an onset... More

We booked a Deluxe room of 21 m with half board for 2 nights. The bathroom and the toilet were dainty and the wash basin was outside the toilet. The bed was huge and occupied 1/2 of the room, so you can imagine the weird layout of the room. You have to take off your shoes when you go into... More

We visited Takayama on Spring festival period. The hotel seems to be popular as it's crowded during 2 days of our stay however the service is fast enough about checking in and out. Rooms are specious and look new. We are not familiar with walking around the hotel with bare feet. The shoes must be took off. It's Ryokan style!... More

Beautiful, well appointed hotel with very nice service. Food is well prepared but not not the best. Textbook hotel/ryokan food without a surprise. A few places need improvements. A hard to close door in a public area. (And, the sign says, please close completely!) Bedding and gowns with a slight smell. Stuff left in corriodors. Perhaps, a manager with a... More

Great compromise if you do not want to stay in a western hotel, but do not want to fork out loads for a Ryokan. The room we stayed in was a good size with private bathroom and toilet, but did not use the shower once, as you can have a private rooftop onsen to yourself!! There are 3 private onsen... More

It was really hard to know what to make of this hotel. I have stayed in Ryokan before and the idea of a hotel with some features of a ryokan appealed. First the positives. The bedroom area was generous by Japanese standards, with a large, king size futon placed on a low base, which was more comfortable than a regular... More
