This is a very charming ryokan ran by a small family. I love it how they will try their best to come out to greet me everytime they hear me coming back to the ryokan. It felt like home. The check-in process was very simple and personal where I was being introduced to all the must-see places in Takayama. I... More

It was our 2nd time staying at Oyado Yoshinoya...the first was in Oct-2012. Still as good as before! We stayed 2 nights and got the same comfortable large room for the 4 of us. Toilets and bathrooms are common-shared but very clean. Enjoyed the indoor private hot spring bath. Japanese-style breakfast and dinner (both include melt-in-your-mouth Hida beef) were really... What an enjoyable time we had staying with Masuzou & Keiko Watanabe in their delightful ryokan. So much so that we extended our stay by another two nights! Such a helpful and friendly couple, always going that extra mile to assist with anything. We were treated to a traditional Japanese breakfast on our first morning where we experienced a variety... This wonderful minshuku was quite a highlight of my 2 weeks in Japan. The family that owns it doesn't speak a huge amount of English, but they speak enough to properly introduce you to the place. The onsen, or hot spring bath, was particularly relaxing, and the traditional Japanese food was beautifully cooked. When I arrived, the owner gave me... More

Located conveniently and run by a honest and humble family. Rooms were nice in size with shared washrooms and bathrooms, like living with a big family. The old couple were attentive with gentle smiles.

This is a very charming little homestay. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom facilities are shared but were spotlessly clean. We had the hot bath to ourselves for an hour or so - very pleasant. And the owners are really very charming and helpful. A very nice place to get to see a bit of... More

The couple who run this place are a delight, very warm and welcoming. It's more like a B&B than a hotel, shared facilities throughout although you can have private use of the onsen which is perfect for family-sharing. We had a good-size room for three people on the top floor. The breakfasts are excellent and highly recommended for a taste... More

We initially thought Oyado Yoshinoya was associated with Kusatsuonsen Yoshinoya ,where we stayed 2 nights prior to arriving at Takayama. Oyado Yoshinoya was not our first choice of lodging in Takayama. But during the long weekend, last month , anything else we wanted were booked out early. We were lucky to have a room with Oyado Yoshinoya . Possibly there... More

A ryokan is like a home: its quality depends entirely on the owners. Oyado Yoshinoya is run by the nicest people imaginable. It would be a great ryokan anyway, with nice rooms, fast internet access, terrific food and a central location, but the owner and staff go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Takayama will always have a... More

This traditional Japanese hotel has everything you can ask for considering the price payed. They actually have their own onsen- hot spring japaneece baths! The rooms have tatami mats and yukata(japanese bathrobes) The only thing thing lacking are toilet/bathrooms in the individual rooms, but this was no problem- there were always vacant shared ones.. The owners are warm and service... More
