Great onsen hotel at Takayama, with 4 different "types" of onsen, 2 indoors and 2 outdoors. the onsen was well maintained and very clean. The rooms are spacious, with a large double bed and enough room to move around. Staff can speak reasonable English. Very good wifi speed in public area and in the guestrooms. Only downside was the rather... More

Functional hotel an easy walk from Takayama station and conveniently located for you to continue your walk on into the historic areas of the town. The staff had enough knowledge of english to assist us at check-in and with a couple of questions we had subsequently. The room and bathroom were adequate if average, but up to normal Japanese standards.... More

The best thing this hotel has going for it, is that it's about halfway between the train station and the historic area of Takayama. It is about a 5-10 min walk from the station. The second best thing is the spa/bath house on the roof. Other than that, it is an average business hotel with some below average features. Some... More

I think the prior reviews were very generous. The room is spare , not spacious and I am having a hard time reconciling with the hotels pictures. The bed is not comfortable. Staff and location are good but this is not the only game in town.

The hotel feels new and has modern spa bath facilities. The breakfast was average but sufficient. The only issue is that the normal rooms were really too small to feel good for two persons. The rooms lack nothing so that was the good thing.

Stayed here for a night while driving through. Rooms were quite spacious and modern. The hotel was quite new and beds were wuite comfortable. The hotel has smoking/non-smoking floors so the lobby especially smelt but the non-smoking floors were fine. The blinds were quite terrible and we found we were woken up at 5am because they didn't keep the light... More

I visited Takayama twice and both were in winter times. And during both visit, I picked to stay at this hotel because they have natural hot spring on the top floor. It was really cold in Takayama during winter time, so the hot spring really do warm me up. Room was spacious and we can open both of our suitcase... More

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in a double room. The hotel is short walk (~3 blocks) from the JR Takayama station and adjacent Nohi bus terminal. If you continue walking half a dozen blocks past the hotel on the same street, you'll get to the river, close to the 2 morning markets and historic old town - so... More

I stayed for one night at this hotel in order to visit Takayama. It is conveniently located close to the train station, with very helpful staff (who were able to look after luggage before checkin and after checkout) as well as arrange forwarding of luggage. I agree with other reviewers that while the rooms are small, they are well appointed... More

I stayed one night at the Hotel Alpina in Takayama. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. Check in time is at 3.00pm, but if you are early they have a safe room for your luggage. The rooms are small but adequately equipped. The bathroom is especially small but very functional. The rooms are well labeled in English.... More
