Yarimikan provided us with some amazing memories of Japan. Their Onsen are beautiful and rugged, the food was extraordinarily good, fresh and plentiful, including the sashimi that was so fresh that it was literally still gasping. They had a mochi-making demonstration where they clearly delighted in watching the westerners trying to master the art. It's quite a trek to get... More

We were here in October and it is a great timing to be there. We saw full color changes. It is so enjoyable when you and your love one are in the mixed bath outdoors. It is once in a life time unforgettable experience. Highly recommend to be here in autumn.

We had a very nice stay, the food was excellent, quite special, staff are very helpful. There are several different private onsens. We also experienced the Japaneses traditional way of making rice cake.

This secluded onsen is a luxurious Japanese Ryokan experience. The food is lavish and amazing (breakfast and dinner included in the rate), the rooms are comfortable with private western style toilets. What really sets it apart, however, are the private hot baths. Many Americans may have issues with the full nudity clause for onsens - no bathing suits. This onsen... More

Once you manage to find the place, you will enter into a paradise staycation and not just because this is an excellent onsen venue, but it is actually a boutique traditional hotel of sorts with standards comparable to luxury hotels. The rooms, service, the amenities, the thoughtfulness of things down to the english instruction menus show that traditional need not... More

Our stay in Yarimikan was a top highlight of our trip to Japan. This thoughtfully restored Japanese manor house has spacious and beautifully appointed rooms that are worth the splurge. The inn overlooks a wild river in the Japanese alps, and features a handful of outdoor onsen with great views, some built out of river stones, and just a stones... More

Imagine waking up every morning to the gurgle of the river strewn with grey and white rocks with sharp white peaks of the distant mountains. I had the privilege of this magnificent experience during my stay at the exquisite and opulent Yarimikan, a dream like no other. This ryokan is a bit far but possible to get to by the... More

We arrived at the ropeway bus station as we missed the stop. Called the Ryokan they promptly picked us up. Perfect timing in mid march as the snow was dumping down. The property and rooms are beautiful great remote location. Onsen's were great the first mixed onsen was the best nice warm water and snow falling on our heads while... More
