This is a traditional Japanese ryokan deep in the country side. We paid about US$600 per day for a couple with one child, inclusive of breakfast and dinner. So it is not cheap. Also called Fukuji Soen by some agents. First, this lovely onsen ryokan is not in Takayama town or even close to it. It's an hour by bus away in the beautiful Fukuji Onsen village in the Okuhida/Hirayu area. It's a very well managed authentic onsen(hot spring) japanese style resort. In winter, okuhida area has heavy snow, which gives the stay even more charming! Hotel is a 100 years old house, with japanese oven indoors. It takes you back to old times immediatly when you enter. Our flight delayed, which maked us predicting arrival the resort at 9pm.
