Stayed here 2 nights in April and this was our most expensive stay in Japan, but given that the room rate included an amazing Kaiseki multi-course dinner and an equally impressive Japanese breakfast with artistically arranged dishes and much attention to detail, all in all great value for money. This place is an authentic Japanese ryokan experience - you can... More

After reading many good reviews, I decided to give myself a treat in this up market ryokan in the Hirayu Onsen area. My expectations were also raised by my excellent experience at related establishment Dormy Inn Matsumoto. What I liked : 1) The public bath area was well decked out with both internal and outdoor onsen. The outdoor onsen had... More

I guess The hotel is situated in a small town and very nice mountainous surrounding. There are clusters of Ryokan around but not so many people. This place is remote, peaceful and calm. The service however is not as good as other Ryokan that we stayed. The meals are great. Dinner main course is grill Hida beef however There is... More

We stayed two nights in early October 2013. The room is very clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and quiet that we did not want to go out during day time at all. The futon is super comfortable for sleeping and the round bath tub inside the room is very good for having a hot bath. There is also a massage chair... More

We only stayed here one night but I would have welcomed more. We had a wonderful room (suite) here which included a bedroom and a living room area, along with a bathroom with a large and beautiful ceramic tub in a seperate cedar lined room. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable for us. The onsen baths were wonderful both indoors... More

Free noodles served at 1030am. Sitting together with everyone in the main lobby wearing our pajama like Traditional Japanese Onsen wear, it felt very much like a large sleepover. Good times. Before eating the noodles, we had finished enjoying a sampling of locally brewed Sake. Our Room was very cozy. Enjoyed the private outdoor Onsen. Walk from lobby to room... More

Staying at the Miyama Ouan has been one of my favorite experiences in Japan. The onsen itself is not far away from a waterfall and the hotel is up in the mountains a long way from central Takayama. A bit of a journey but well worth the wait. The rooms were modern but still had a nice Japanese style, every... More

This was our first stay at an onsen so we cannot compare it to any other. However, it was a wonderful experience. The staff were really helpful and explained to us how everything worked in an onsen. Upon arrival we had to remove our shoes and then went and selected our yukatas for our stay. We changed into those and... More

Miyama Ouan was such a memorable experience for me and my family. Staffs were very friendly, smiling and always willing to help. The room was spacious and equipped with everything you would need, including an electronic massage chair. Futons were very comfortable. Onsen was like heaven. Great view. There were private onsens and rotenburos, but the public one was the... More

This traditional Japanese inn had everything we wanted. Good food, private onsen that we could use as many times as we want if it is vacant, and nice room with tea leaf incense. Staffs are well trained, and very helping. We had dinner and breakfast. Both were amazing. It is a bit hard to find the place if you don't... More
