I stayed with my wife and her parents in October 2014. We had the choice of a Western room and a Japanese style room. A surprise was that there was no bed, the staff come into the room and make up the traditional Japanese beds on the floor. The Western style room is not much different aside from a couple... More

Need improvement: Refer to the Google map show that the location of hotel is nearby the railway station but actually it needs 30-45 min walking distance and there are no any sign to show the way. Dinner and breakfast both are not worth to pay by the small portions and bad quality. Recommend: The host is very kindness and introduce... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel for a night in september. We got a beautiful room with a great view. Traditional Japanese standard (sleeping futons). We ordered the Hida beef menu. A very friendly japanese non english speaking lady came with the food to our room with 10 + different dishes in small bowls, and a beef we... More

This hotel is quite an experience. It provides a good overview of typical Japanese living, whilst maintaining the comforts of a hotel. Japanese style rooms are huge, with a wonderful view. Breakfast is typical Japanese, although if they see you struggling with understanding what you are actually eating, they also give you a basic Western style breakfast plate to make... More

This was my second visit to Takayama but was the first time in Hagi hotel. At the beginning, I was reluctant to book at this place given our last stay in Takayama was amazing but to my surprise, me and my family absolutely enjoyed our stay in this hotel and were amazed by the great value of it. Hagi offers... More

The Kanko Hotel sits on a hill next to the Ayuzaki Castle Ruins about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the old town area. This gives fantastic views over the old town in one direction and views over surrounding mountains in the other. The hotel itself is very spacious with lots of open space, wide corridors and a pleasant garden.... More

What a delightful start to our Japanese holiday it was, to stay at this traditional hotel. From our first welcome to our final farewell it was wonderful. Everything in the hotel showed care, from the smallest floral arrangement on the tables to the wall decorations. The staff were always keen to assist us. Each day we made good use of... More

Disclaimer: I went there on a field trip when I was on an exchange. All handling of bookings and communications with the hotels for setting this up was organised by the University. My classmates and I were only told that we were staying in a traditional ryokan. There was no mention of onsen nor where we would be staying. As... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in February 2014 and had a great time. Only a few of the staff were able to speak English well, however all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We appreciated that each night an English dinner menu was provided on our table and the restaurant staff (and other guests!) tried to explain... More

We arrived by rental car and there were already two people at the main entrance to welcome us. They helped with our luggage, check-in and parked our car. When I got the car keys back, there was a nice souvenir attached to it, very nice touch. A tip, if you are driving from Shirakawa-go, do take the tolled highway, as... More
