The hotel is very far from the center of Takamaya (35 minutes on foot) and you have to walk through a regular road not prepared for pedestrians. There is an old bus (free of charge) only 3 times a day from the hotel to the center (8:00 am, 8:20 am and 9:00 am) The service is very bad, when we... More

If you visit Takayama, its worth to stay here to experience ryokan stay which is not great to most, but generally will be once or twice in your life time as a tourist to experience how Japanese traditonal bed is. The owner/ manager and staff all have such a great attitude in servicing us. The complementary pick up and drop... More

Easy to get to from Takayama station (actually you can walk it if you are not carrying much stuff), in hills on the edge of the central part of the town. Awesome views from the bathroom, actually. Rooms are huge, with tatami mats, futon beds, and great views. The owner is fantastic, a big thumbs up to him for making... More

I totally enjoyed my stay of three nights at this ryokan. It has the cleanest toilet, comfortable room and hospitable staff. A wonderful experience of life in Japan though bathing in the on sen can be quite awkward and challenging. My heartfelt thanks to the manger, Mr Hideharu Murayama for his prompt action of sending me my pants that I... More

It was our first experience in a traditional Japanese Ryokan. We stayed there for 1 night. We got a big room with tatami's and the Japanese mattress (futon). The Ryokan is nice without being to sophisticated. It is a little far from the center of town but they have a free shuttle. Call them and they come to pick you... More

OK, owner is really active and friendly. They have good washing-machine and really great Private (family) onsen, me and my wife really enjoyed! Rooms are big, but heating bit tricky. Worst thing is that nearby everything was closed at 1730 latest. No restaurant, no nothing. You have to go to town for eating (or as we did, we drove to... More

One of the staff can speak very very good English and very helpful(He is normally the driver who picks you up). You can call the hotel to pick you up when you get to the station. They also provide suitcase-dropped service in case on the next day you want to travel to Takayama or Shirakawago village and then want to... More

Had an indifferent experiences with rooms, had booked in for 3 nights but my partner had to return home for an emergency. We had booked a triple room which was massive (with western toilet & basin) which I stayed in the first night then the manager offered to move me to a double room ( needed some revamping) which still... We were very satisfied with our stay at Murayama- we had a large room in traditional Japanese style with a big bathrom and toilet, public onsen( traditional hot bath with wather from hot springs)- all for a nice price. We could choose between English and Japanese breakfast, I had it Japanese style- a good idea if you like fermented beans... More
