We stayed in this ryokan for two nights. We booked a Japanese style room with private bathroom. The room was a bit small compared to the one we had in another ryokan, but was clean, nice, with two comfortable futons, table, tea, etc. The main problem is that it was an inner room with no views. We chose the western... More

I had stayed in traditional ryokan before, this one was quite different. Maybe it's because we ended up in a 'western style' room which basically mean there is a mattress under the futon and there is a small 'unit bath' type bathroom. Because of the mattresses most of the space in the room was occupied by the futon. Normally they... More

We stayed for 2nights in superior room and was big disappointment. room was quite big but very old (time for refreshment) and a bit stinky (same for shower and toilet). Walls were very thin and we had neighbors above us which or had sex or were walking around, we were not able to sleep with that. Despite thin walls Internet... More

Japanese style, shoes out at the entrance, room ok with private bathroom but a bit old fashioned. The public bath was ok, ampty when we did it. Excellent breakfast. It's a 10 minute walk till the real historic district.

This review is long overdue. We were there in Dec14. This ryokan is within walking distance from the train station as well as the Takayama Old Town. We arrived early before lunch, so we left our bags at the ryokan and headed out for a walk to the Old Town. When we return to the ryokan in the afternoon, our... More

Traditional japanese hotel (not a real ryokan which are much more expensive) loceted just 10 walking minutes from the train station and all sightseeings. I had to smile at finding at the entrance my name written on a wood plank similar to those indicating the sponsors of buddist temples. You have to take the shoes off to enter the building.... More

The hotel is very nice in a traditional ryokan style. The rooms are very nice and clean with nice clean bedding. Our room had the bathroom en suite in addition to a sitting area that overlooked a small garden. My complaint is that for the cost their should either be wifi in the rooms or the staff should not allow... More

It is more like a half hotel and half ryokan. A large hotel rather successful in trying to give us a more personalised ryokan experience. Perfect location within walking distance to the railway station and to the centre of town and all main attractions. In fact, this is a walking town anyway. The welcome and service could not be faulted.... More

If I were Japanese, and I had a grandma, this is how I would imagine they would pamper me. The dining experience is totally surreal. You can even wear a kimono to dinner if you so wish. As for the food, i tasted delicacies i was unable to identify... But they were so delicious, i could just eat them for... More

The hotel has very good location just in the heart of historical district, and from other side, close to railway/bus station. This is really old building, it seems rebuilt several times from smaller houses. I t looks like Japanese geisha house from film. Inside is geisha's time atmosphere as well, narrow unclear corridors, inner small garden. Narrow spa available. The... More
