The chalets , guest suites overlook a waterhole which is nice. Late night we had the visit of two elephants which was impressive. The set up of the guest suites is a bit amateur like and does not compare with other tree houses we stayed at in our African trip. Lunch and dinner is served and is not bad ,... More

We stayed for 2 nights in the beginning of May. We stayed in the standard thatched chalets which were very nice and comfortable. The staff at Miombo are the greatest! David is a brilliant chef and catered wonderfully for the only vegetarian there (thank you David!); Bongani is the man that you'll want to take you on the game drives:... More

We stayed at Miombo for three days in June 2014. It was a highlight of our four weeks in Southern Africa. All of the staff including Clementine and Mr. B were super hospitable And made us feel right at home. We did two game drives which were great fun, but even more special was having dinner interrupted by a family... More

It is some years since we last managed to visit to Miombo and the new owners are really busy upgrading but not spoiling! We camp - we always camp!! and the conditions for camping are in the process of being refurbished but we had no discomfort at all - plenty hot water in the showers, good WORKING loos!! and the... Great friendly staff. We stayed in the Honeymoon lodge for a total of three nights. On the full board basis. A pity that there was no kettle provided or in the absence of that early morning tea / coffee brought to the lodge. Food edible although basic, lodge very clean and comfortable. Good value for those on a budget compared... More

We only stayed 1 night as a last minute stopover on the way back to Bulawayo but it was wonderful. A lovely place to stay, small and intimate with excellent staff who were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a cute little rondavel but saw some of the other accommodation which was awesome. Only a short drive to the main... More

We had a wonderful time at Miombo. The food was really good and it was so peaceful and quiet over there. The gamedrives were also amazing. We even saw elephants, monkeys and some impalas at our stay. Loved it! I really can recommend it to other people.

We stayed 4 nights and did 3 days of game drives twice a day. It is probably one more than you need. However we enjoyed the whole time. Steven our Safari guide was unbelievable. We not only saw everything but leopards but lots of insects and birds that he made fascinating We saw lions several times. We witnessed 2 male... More

Amazing staff, who catered to all needs. Simon who manages the lodges is always available for questions and joined us for dinner on our last night which was lovely. The game drives are very well done, and the supplied guides with a vast knowledge of the bush and wildlife. We were very fortunate to see a leopard in a tree... More

We sadly only stayed for one night at Miombo, but (had we been able to find a cash point) would have stayed for much longer and changed our entire holiday plans just to spend more time there. The food was outstanding (and they catered for my diabetic low-carb diet), the guides incredible and the accommodation beautiful. If I could be... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Miombo Safari Camp has the distinction of being the closest quality accommodation to Hwange National Park Main Gate & is located in the DETE annex, on a private concession within the eastern border of the Hwange National Park. Having undergone a total transformation we have four brand new boutique raised above ground level platforms that are 75sqm, atop of which are exquisite luxury 55sqm safari suites, configured to accommodate two guests in a queen sized double or twin-bed configuration. Each of these guest suites has a main bedroom, with a wardrobe & storage space for clothes & footwear, a private en-suite bathroom with twin ´His & Hers` basins, ample hot & cold running water on demand, an interior private shower & separate private toilet. We also have two standard tree houses. These accommodation units are rustic & not of the same standard as the new platform units. Instead they cater to safari lovers who may have been to Miombo Safari Camp prior to its transformation, or folks who are seeking a slightly less luxury & more `rustic` bush accommodation. In addition to the raised platform guest suites there are four classic ground level thatched roof rondavels, each one accommodating two guests, with bedroom, wardrobe, private bathroom & shower. ... more   less
