Look no further for a congenial home from home or rather, how you would like home to be. It's a gracious house in Suburbs with a glorious garden and a swimming pool. The accommodation is magnificent and the welcome from Rodney and Prudence is warm. There are all sorts of thoughtful touches like a hot water bottle in your bed... More

This is a lovely place to stay when in Bulawayo. We arrived hot and tired after a long journey and were shown to a lovely big air conditioned room and an honesty bar with cold beers. It's a marvellous big old house and there are loads of places to relax in the lounge, bar, terrace, etc. The home cooked meals... More

First time in Zimbabwe on a work trip and from the moment I arrived at Sondela it felt like home! Rod and Prudence were the perfect hosts. My luggage hadn't arrived with me but I was offered t-shirts and help before my luggage finally showed up! We travelled away for a few nights and came back to Sondela, again, it... More

Stayed for 3 nights and peoples helpfulness went way beyond what is normal. They were great. Rooms are huge, clean and comfortable. Mine had an integral bathroom divided off by Rush screens. Shower needed to run a while before there was hot water but then great. Lovely big bed. WiFi was fine. Evening meals home cooking at its best. Beautiful... More

Owner and manager of Sondela made us feel very much at home on our stopover going from East to West Zim. The building itself is a private one, with quite some years since last refurbishment and low water pressure on the shower... but all in all it is ok. It really feels like you are staying at a friends' home.... More

Lovely grand old house which felt like a home away from home. The garden was an oasis with green lawns and shady trees. Also head down to the central gardens on the weekend for the colourful wedding parties having their photos taken!

My colleagues and I recently spent a night at Sondela Guest House. We had a great time there, listening to old Beatles albums at the bar, and playing Pool on the immaculate full-sized (!!!) table. The owner is a great guy and we really enjoyed his company and hospitality. I highly recommend staying here, and will definitely be staying here... More

We came to stay at the Sondela Guest House after an awful experience at the Nesbitt Castle, which resulted in us vacating 3 nights early. We were welcomed in with open arms by Rod and his staff. The grounds are beautiful. Everything is lush and green and he has 22 tortoises. Whenever he sees them being sold at the side... More

We had the pleasure of staying with Rod at Sondela for a few nights last week and we loved every minute of it. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful grounds, the lush garden, the stately home, the extraordinarily warm welcome of Prudence and Rod who went out of his way to make us feel at home, the comfort of the bedroom... I spent a week in Bulawayo for work. Walking into Sondela Guest House after working all day felt like coming home, not coming back to some sterile/cold hotel. The owner, Rodney, makes you feel right at home and the staff is warm and welcoming. I have been traveling for work for 10 weeks and my week at Sondela Guest House... More
