I booked a 3-night getaway here as a surpise for my hubby's birthday and we could not have been happier with the whole experience! Granted, it started out with a bit of a hiccup as there was no-one to meet us at the airport and we waited 40 mins for a driver to collect us..this after the very friendly &... more

Thorntree Lodge was a great place for us to relax following our horse-back safari in Botswana. The river frontage location was lovely, even with the Zambezi in full flood, and the hippos still came across from the river islands every night for some top grazing on the lawns around the swimming pool! The resident monkey troop provided much entertainment, and... more

Shame. Shame. Shame Compared to the joy of Botswana, Thorntree was a complete let down. Hordes of out of control baboons stalk you in your room.... and its not that I don't like monkeys, but a bit of ammunition (a few rocks or something) to keep them away would have been appreciated. The swimming pool looked like the local elephant... more

After an overland safari trip from capetown we were looking for a little bit of relaxation and luxury at the end of the trip. Thorntree fitted the bill perfectly with only 9 rooms all facing the picturesque Zambezi river. The inclusive meals were great and enjoyed either at the massive dining table inside or at a table set up on... more

Thorntree River Lodge is a total surprise after driving through scrub, roadside fires and dusty fields. It's green, quiet, peaceful, beautifully situated on the Zambezi and idyllic in its views. Our Elderhostel group of 14 took up the entire place. As such, our wonderful guide Chris managed details such as tours, flight schedules, etc., and all we had to do... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in August. The lodge was under-going change of management while we were there so I'm not sure what the outcome of this will be. The staff are extremely friendly. Accommodation is clean, comfortable, but in August the rooms are very cold as there is no heating! We booked this accommodation to visit the Victoria... more

We stayed at the Thorntree for our Honeymoon in May, 2007 and were booked into one of the two Honeymoon Lodges. We felt totally looked after and it felt like we were the only ones there. If you wanted a meal for two by your Lodge or in the grounds this was catered for, along with any request. I asked for... more

The services of the staff particlarly the manager Sandra and our guide Brighton were outstanding. The location is excellent for vising the falls and game reserve or just relaxing on site. Food is very good and when I happened to mention that I hadn't been able to sample the local bream it was on the menu the next day!I would also... more

The Thorn Tree Lodge in Zambia by the Great Zambezi River is a phenomenal place to stay while touring in the victoria falls area. Everything in this resort is included including a sunset rafting trip out on the river where you see elephants coming out for an evening drink, and amazing scenery. The hotel will ask you what you like... more
