Lovely position on the river, nice facilities, a nice safari/old explorer type touch. Animals in the grounds are an added attraction. Very comfortable. Helpful staff (and lots of them!) and great bar, restaurant and relaxation areas. So nice to relax here after being hot, dirty and cramped (although loving it!) on safari! Please put towels and water in the gym... More

Unfortunately the hotel was fully booked so we only had dinner here a couple of times. However, the meal, service and setting were outstanding. The staff were so friendly and to eat excellent food, watching the tame Zebras and relaxing by the Zambezi was a very special treat. Next door at the much poorer quality sister hotel we saw the... Right on the water, this is a truly stunning location. The staff were excellent. Food was great. Remember to keep your doors shut so the monkeys don't get in. Also, zebras kick so don't touch them as they meander around the hotel grounds

Being at this hotel, which maximises its magnificent setting on the banks of the Zambesi, is like being on a movie set. Billiard table - smooth green lawns sweep down to the river where there are decks built over the water. Shaded by mature trees you sip your drink as the sun sets over the opposite bank, while enjoying the... More

Our family spent 2 nights here in this classic luxurious hotel. Location/grounds: perfect and the views along the river are gorgeous (especially on the river deck at sunset with a cocktail...a must-do). Rooms: old-world colonial charm (but with all the modern amenities). Very comfortable. We were on the 2nd floor...I don't think the ground floor would have been as nice.... More

Beautiful grounds, rooms, view and access to the falls. Lots of staff around who were very pleasant but somewhat over relaxed when it came to service. The strange and annoying fault though was that the spirits were watered down! Not joking - we had to order doubles to taste anything but mixer.

Hubby and I visited the Royal Livingstone for the second time this year (last time was 10 years ago). Just love the colonial feel of the hotel and spent some lazy days at the pool enjoying the warm African sun. The grounds are beautiful and being in a national park having a number of zebras, monkeys and buck roaming around.... More

One of the highlights of our stay was gazing across the Zambezi River towards the mist of the Falls with an orange glow all around as the sun set and then a hippo popped his head out of the water near to our platform! Another highlight was the fact that you easily walk through the grounds of the hotel and... More

Spent 3 nights before heading into the bush on safari. Location was excellent, located in the park and a short walk from the falls. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Service was good overall but a little inconsistent at dinner. Sundowners on the deck overlooking the Zambezi River were a perfect antidote to a 6 hour time difference. Have stayed... More

The Royal Livingstone is one of two hotels in walking distance to Victoria Falls on the Zambian side. It claims to be a 5 star hotel, but is 3 star at best. However, like my title states, it's the best option if you are staying on the Zambian side. The Pro's -- the grounds are pretty with a nice deck... More
