Stayed at Van Loi for 2 nights and we were very satisfied with everything. +++ for the nice outdoor pool, the top floor restaurant with great view and the good buffet breakfast. Very helpful staff. We would definitely stay there again. more

Good service from arrival until departure. Room decore dated but full of old VietFrench character. Well situated being only a short walk from attractions. Enjoyable breakfast in a fabulous rooftop restaurant with awsome views of surrounding area. The room Aircon seemed to just cope with the oppressive heat and humidity and took time to become effective. Would stay again. more

This hotel is a short walk to the old town (it's across the river in Can Nam village). The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good, and the location is brilliant - it's out of all the hussle and bustle of Hoi An, but only five minutes walk to the thick of it. The hotel is a little aged, and... more

My family and I have just spent 2 weeks at the Van Loi and have also stayed there over the past 5 years for weeks at a time going back to when the hotel opened in 2004. Over this time we have had nothing but praise for the hotel. The staff are genuinely welcoming and friendly and nothing is too... more

I had one night in this hotel, which is a fair walk from shops and restaurants. The room looked OK for a budget hotel but I could hear the conversation in the next room, which had a connecting door. Fortunately they did not have the TV going, and mine, being right near this door, could have been an annoyance to... more

We stayed 3 nights here in mid April. The kids lived in the pool as it was incredibly hot and aircon in room a god send. Rooms (we had 2 as we were travelling with a family of 4) very spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. Did have some problems with our power - they are in the process of... more

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. Very nice wooden furniture with carvings inside the room and in the hotel’s hall. We liked the decoration of our deluxe room very much. But we didn't like the bathroom at all! It’s extremely old, glazed tile is very very old and cracked, shower doesn’t work very well, sometimes the stream of water... more

The outside and lobby of the Van Loi are gorgeous. The pool is lovely, too. The problem is with the rooms. They are large, and the balcony is nice, but I would agree with what others said about the bathrooms. A shower curtain would help greatly. Everything seems a bit dated. The bottom sheet is too small for the bed,... more

Quite dated, dark and musty. The shower was on the side of a bathtub aimed at the bathroom floor, so a shower curtain was essential, as the floor was very slippery when wet. It took an hour and several phone calls early in the morning to get a shower curtain, and when it came there were no rings on it... more

I would not recommend the Van Loi to anyone visiting Hoi An, as there are many more options in Hoi An, both more budget-friendly and/or charming. (And for just a little more money, you can get a far nicer experience.) Our trip to My Son, which we booked through the hotel, cost 4 times more than what others on the... more
