We stayed here for 2 nights in December. it was in a good location to the town core. It looks old but actually built in 1997. We were part of a tour group of 18. Check in went quick. The front end staff was always very friend.

We were on the second floor. there is no elevators. So you will have to pack your bags up the stairs. It was 3 stories tall. So if you have problems lifting your bags I would recommend asking for a room on the Botton floor.

Our room was a fair size but very plain. We had king bed. It was comfortable. Bedding fit the bed and was actually kind bedding not like other hotels we had been at. Walls are paper thin but if you had the AC on you couldn't hear much. All rooms had a horrible smell to the point were you wanted to puke. Bathrooms were ok at least clean but nothing special. Corner rooms seem to have 2 doors. I did a bed bug check how I had read they had them in the last 6 months. Couldn’t find any signs of them. So I was a very happy girl. The rooms were very clean.

Very nice pool with a cold temp which is perfect for how hot it was but not nice if you wanted an evening swim. Wifi was horrible on the second floor so I can only imagine how bad it was on the 3rd floor.

There was a restaurant on site but was never busy.
You could rent bikes across the street which was very handy to get to the Rice Patty Fields.

First impression - a big hotel with a welcoming feel. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking outside. Room was spacious. Bathroom was adequate. The free breakfast was buffet style and eggs cooked the way you wanted. Plenty of choices to cater for everyone. Bikes were available at a cost - not free like other places.
The hotel is in the throes of being refurbished so some of the rooms are not available at the moment.
The thing that sets this hotel up for me was the swimming pool. So nice to be able to relax here after a day out in the heat. They even let us use the area after we had checked out.

Not a great hotel. We checked in here after being enticed by the pool which was nice, and the room was clean with comfy beds, but wouldn't recommend other than that. The hotel was going under some major construction to its rear while we were staying which meant a nice relaxing subathing session by the pool was accompanied by the constant sound of drills and building work. The Vietnamese builders also made us feel quite uncomfortable by staring and pointing at us (thinking we couldn't see) in our swimwear which made us go back to our room after a while. The free breakfast was ok, buffet catering but nothing special, had to ask if we wanted anything hot and had to see to toasting our own bread/getting tea when there were 4 staff around the area. The hotel should probably have been shut while the building work was going on because it just lowered the standards altogether. The staff were friendly enough so I can't fault that, and the cleaners were frequently seen cleaning. Last but not least on our check out morning I was sat on the hotel stairs, turned around and was greeted by a big rat making its way down the stairs :( so not the best stay.

To start off this was an extremely disappointing stay for us in a Vietnamese town that we love. The room was filthy with ants in the bathroom, all of the sheets and towels stained, no water pressure or hot water at all which made it impossible to wash our hair for our entire stay. This is the first hotel that we have stayed at where the housekeeping come after 4pm, the time most people need to use their rooms to get ready to go out for dinner. We asked if the housekeeping could come back in half an hour and they didn't clean the room for 2 days. We asked reception several times if it were possible to have it cleaned as we didn't have any fresh towels and this did not happen until the third day. The beds were uncomfortable and a selection of staff were not attentive or welcoming. We understand that this is a budget hotel and our expectations were not too high, however, there is a standard of cleanliness and hospitality that needs to be met.

After checking out we realised we left an item of clothing in the room and returned the next day to reception to ask if it was in lost property. We were absolutely appalled at the customer service and to be told that lost property doesn't exist and house keeping assume when items are left they are no longer wanted and thrown out. It had been 1 day and we find it difficult to understand how a hotel can operate this way. After mentioning our frustration to the manager he laughed in our face and said that's just what happens and that's their procedure. We understand that mistakes can happen however, to have this kind of response from him and no apology is customer service at it's worst. This was an extremely unpleasant stay. Would not recommend.

We booked our 2 night stay on booking.com and at the end stayed 6 nights. This is how we feel about this place. Amazing, pool is fantastic, cleaned several times during day, beer in fridge is reasonable 15K dongs. Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day, new towels and sheets. You can book here some trips like Bana Hills, or rebt motorcycle, bicycle, have arranged transfer from and to Airport.

Special thanks to Tina, she was very polite, speaks good english, it was easy to communicate with her. I hai yen hotel hoi one of the best stay I had in Vietnam, price, service everything was fine.

Was staying here with my boyfriend and brother for 3 nights and had a great time staying here!. Was close and central to everywhere and the staff were always polite and very helpful! We rented motorbikes from them and a good price and we had a difficult time parking them near the old ancient town as they got moved and removed where we Parked them to!. Despite this happening they were really helpful in helping us find them quite quickly the next morning and was very reassuring on not to worry! I couldn't thank these guys enough with how well they were there to help! Breakfast was a good mix of food and swimming pool was nice! Rooms were clean and tidy everyday too! Thanks again to all the staff at the Hai Yen hotel! If I came back to hoi an I would happily book here again!

- the room was tidy, but barely clean
- aircon worked
- staff were not helpful, spent most of their shift asleep under the stair case or smoking in the non smoking areas.
- Not very central, a bit of a walk to anything worth doing
- laundry service is well priced
- interior was loud, paper thin walls allowing you to hear what's happening outside the hotel, and in the next room too

Wouldn't return to or recommend

When we arrived, the staff mixed up our booking with another group and made us change rooms. Their English was poor and did not understand the basic questions. Three of us gave them laundry and it came back mixed up and a number of items were missing. We had to ask them twice to find our items. The rooms were clean, however, the walls were paper thin and we were kept up at night due to other guests shouting in the corridors. Staff should address this as it happened every night we were there. The shower was warm but the pressure was very low and it was difficult to shower properly. The location was good. Nice pool.

We loved to stay at Hai Yen Hotel. We had booked 3 Nights but stayed for 5.

The room was big and clean and we got housekeeping everyday.

The staff is really helpfull and offered great service. Ana (the staff) was kind to show us vietnamese specialties and offer us vietnamese food and fruit.

Overall the facilities were great. They had cheap laundry service, the pool was clean and the pool area was great. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel if you are staying in Hoi an. Only 10 minutes walk to center.
