We loved the two days we spend at the farm. The reason we choose for this farm that we always wanted to learn horseriding What else is better to do that on a estancia. Miguel was a perfect teacher and gaves you enough confidence to ride the next day on the countryside. The horses are very well trained but they... More

This is a place with heart. We felt right at home and had the most relaxing days and nights there. Miguel gave a great introduction into horse riding and both me and my companion fell in love with the experience. Monica, the other owner is an exceptional hostess and I felt like we could ask her anything, and she'd have... More

Great getaway - we were well taken care of! We went on a two day trip from Buenos Aires over into Uruguay and El Galope is where we chose to relax and hang our hats. We really enjoyed the horses, property, and Monica was very welcoming to us. We walked around the neighbourhood area and found the local cheese maker... More

We enjoyed spending two nights at El Galope. The room was perfect with good beds and clean bathroom. We came for the horse rides, which we really enjoyed! Nice was that we first had a lesson on the property and the next day went for the real trip trough Colonia. The cheese fondue made the trip really complete. Unfortunately, the... More

We stayed in this estancia for 2 nights and wished we hadn't made plans, so we could stay a little longer. Monica and Miguel are great hosts and really made us feel like home in their lovely estancia. I am not a animal-person (my girlfriend is!), but I really loved it over here. Their dogs (2pac in particular, named after... More

We had an amazing time at El Galope! After 5 months on the road, this hostel was the perfect place to reload our batteries while discovering Rural Uruguay. Located in the middle of the fields, you wake up with the sounds of the birds and it's small size (10beds) makes it really cozy. The location - on the way between... More

The prior reviewer (TheBSTravelers) is correct about some of the characteristics of this estancia. It is not really a bed and breakfast, but a horse farm that provides accommodations, with the highlight being horse lessons. It is not a place where the owners will be dotting after you. After some initial advice, the owners basically leave you alone. If you... More

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay here. The difficulty lies in the fact that El Galope sometimes hints that it is a Bed and Breakfast, but in reality guests have to remember that this is a hostel on a working farm. I kept waiting for that warm, welcoming feeling that a B&B typically provides and the small touches that... More

Hi It was nice having you as guests, although we were surprised about the comments. Therefore we decided to read your comments about other places and realized that we were not so bad and it is just the way you look at things, being unable to see the things in a positive way. I also notice that you wish more... More

We loved our stay at El Galope and were very lucky to be the only guests at that time. Monica & Miguel were superb hosts especially organising a lunch-time indoor BBQ on the Sunday with whiskeys, mate and the best steaks ever. They have a fabulous estancia with lovely dogs, cats, hens & horses in a very relaxed setting with plenty... More

I've been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina for the last 18 months and am in constant search of tranquil weekend getaways. El Galope, about an hour outside of Colonia, Uruguay, was the perfect escape from the hustle of the city (but I'd also recommend it under other circumstances). Monica and Miguel are gracious hosts and their quaint retreat is easy... More
